On November 18th, VFW Post #4451 held their Annual Award Banquet Dinner. A number of Mena students and staff received awards.
Patriot's Pen is a nationwide 300-400 word essay contest for 6-8th grade students on a patriotic theme that changes every year.
This year's post winners are:
1st place: Annabelle Sprague
2nd place: Serenity Hogan
Voice of Democracy is 3-to-5 minute audio-essay for 9-12th grade on a prechosen patriotic theme.

1st place: Nathan Williamson**
**When Nathan Williamson was in junior high, he entered an essay into the Patriot's Pen Contest. Nathan won 1st place at post level, district level, and then state level. Nathan then qualified him for national where placed 17th in the nation.
