Mena High School Student Council is selling the official 2021 Homecoming Tee this year! The cost will be $12 per shirt and we have youth sizes Small-Large and adult sizes Small-6X available for order! If you would like to order please email Ms.Hobson at ladatha.hobson@menaschools.org and drop off your money in a sealed envelope with your name to the Mena High School office no later than Friday, September 10th. Shirts will be delivered to all Mena Public School campuses and local businesses on Monday, September 20th. Go Bearcats!

Mena Volleyball hosted Lake Hamilton Monday at Jim Rackley Gymnasium & the Union Bank Center.. The 7th Grade Ladycats lost 9-25 & 0-25. The Jr. High Ladycats won 25-18 & 25-23 The Sr. Ladycats won 25-15, 25-12 & 25-18 Mena will play at Greenwood on Thursday.

Mena Volleyball will host Lake Hamilton at the Union Bank Center. The 7th Grade, Jr. JV, Sr. JV. Jr. High & Sr. High teams will play beginning at 4:30pm. MHS Golf will play at Hot Springs Village in a match hosted by Jessieville..

Mena Sr, Boys Golf competed at the Nashville Country Club on Monday. Mena finished in third behind Nashville & Hope.. Malvern & Bauxite also competed.. The Ladycats had a good night at the Union Bank Center on Monday & defeated Waldron 25-13, 25-10 & 25-9. Mena is 1-0 & will face Lake Hamilton on Tuesday at the UBC. Games begin at 4:30pm. GO LADYCATS !!!

The Jr. Ladycats were firing on all cylinders in the season opener on Monday afternoon. Mena defeated Waldron 25-20 & 25-17 at the Union Bank Center. The girls are back in action on Tuesday when they host Lake Hamilton. Games start at 4:30pm in the UBC. GO LADYCATS!!!

The season opener is on Monday, August 23rd when they play Waldron at The Union Bank Center. 1976 was the first year competitive athletics was available to girls at MHS. The first Ladycat volleyball team won 6 of 12 matches that year. Mena Football will play DeQueen in their season opener on Friday, August 27th at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. We thought now would be an appropriate time for a little history lesson. The first football game played by Mena High School was in 1912. In the game the Bearcats played DeQueen. The Leopards won by a score of 20-6. There were only thirteen boys on the Mena squad. Additionally, only two boys had ever even seen a game. One eyewitness said, “The small squad made up for lack of knowledge by rough play.” GO BEARCATS!!!!

Mena Golf played at the Waldron Country Club on Tuesday.. The Ladycats finished 2nd with a team score of 141. Just two strokes behind Charleston. Emmi Hines - 50 Madi Lyle - 45 Emily Leonard - 46 Emma Threlkeld - 67 . A pair of Sr. Boys competed for Mena. Alex Rocha - 56 Cooper Plunkett - 51 Mena will play at the Nashville Country Club on August 23rd. GO BEARCATS !!!

Mena Bearcat fans should know that mask guidelines will vary from school to school & sport to sport this year. Each school has adopted their own rules for attendance & you should be prepared when attending road games. We will do our best to keep you posted on any mask policy we are made aware of. 2021 scholarship recipient Cauy House is a recent Mena High School graduate with plans to attend Ouachita Baptist University to study agribusiness. In high school, Cauy was a member of National Society of High School Scholars, National Honors Society, FFA and played for the Mena High School football team. He will also play football for OBU this fall. Cauy grew up on his family’s cow-calf operation in Polk county and says that in addition to pursing a career in agriculture business, he wants to continue to invest time into raising quality beef. “Rural life has played a huge role in helping me decide on what I want to be in the future,” Cauy said. “I thank my dad every day for raising me up on our farm and teaching me how to be a cattleman. Without him doing that, I would have no clue on what I would want to be.”
