Many Mena High School students have been working on memorizing the FFA Creed this month in our Survey of AG Classes. This is a 5 paragraph statement of the National FFA Organization's values and beliefs about agriculture, citizenship, patriotism, and FFA membership. We have challenged our students and new members to memorize and recite this creed. AVERY HUNTER was the first student out of our 3 survey sections to be able to recite the Creed in its entirety. For this she has earned her FFA Jacket for free

Twelve of our Mena High School AE students reached their goals this week by being respectful, staying on task, and turning in all assignments. To celebrate, they enjoyed an hour of Yoga with Ms. Claire Williamson from the Extension Office, where they learned to calm their nervous systems and practice deep mindfulness. We also want to give a special shout-out to two students who went above and beyond their weekly goals and are making great strides toward their quarterly targets! Eva Hart and Audrina Dominquez have shown incredible achievement, motivation, and kindness.

Mena Coaches have selected #24, Brody Peters, as the Farm Bureau Insurance Player of the Game vs Little Rock Hall. Brody is a Senior, running back / middle linebacker, for the Bearcats. Last Friday night he ran for 226 yards and 2 touchdowns and had an interception on defense, leading to a 31-0 victory over the Warriors. He is the son of Brandon and Mary Peters. Brody says he enjoys hunting for deer in the fall when not playing football. He hopes to receive a college scholarship to play football at Arkansas Tech or perhaps a baseball scholarship at UA Rich Mountain next year after graduation. He plans to make a career in coaching after college. This week, Brody and the Bearcats will host the Stigler Oklahoma Panthers, who lost to Sallisaw last week by a score of 35-21. So far this season, Mena’s defense has not allowed a point and they hope to complete their non-conference schedule with a third win for the season, before beginning conference play at Pottsville on September 27th. Kickoff will be at 7 pm this Friday night at Randall Horton Field. Shown presenting Brody with his game ball is local Farm Bureau Insurance Agent, Mitch Sikes. Farm Bureau Insurance is a proud supporter of Mena High School Athletics!!
