Mena High School rising senior Jackson Thompson is the son of Cory and Candace Thompson. Jackson was a delegate of Arkansas Boys State 2025 and was sponsored by Brian Erickson of Freedom Pharmacy. I learned a lot alongside my fellow classmates and youth of Arkansas and hope to implement it in our community. Welcome Leilani Day to the team at Mena Middle and Mena High School. I am so excited to be back home and have the opportunity to coach the sport I enjoy so much as well as teach the subject that made me want to become a teacher. I am excited for the school year and all the new beginnings it will bring.

Mena Public School Administrators have been attending the Leadership Institute hosted by the DeQueen Mena Education Service Cooperative at Degray Lake State Park this week. The Jr. Ladycats attended the Harding Team Basketball Camp on Sunday and Monday. The Jr. Ladycats will attend the Morrilton Team Camp on Monday, June 16th and Tuesday, June 17th.

The Mena Jr. High Cheer Team is preparing for the 2025-2026 season. The group attended the Varsity Stunt Clinic in Hot Springs on Monday.

Mena coaches & players helped area youngsters improve their basketball skills this week at the Little Cats Camp in the Union Bank Center. A busy week is ahead for the Bearcat basketball team beginning at the Southeast Oklahoma State Team Camp and followed by the NWA Shootout.

The Mena Ladycats spent Monday and Tuesday at the Southeast Oklahoma State University Basketball Camp in Durant Mena will host a team camp on Friday in the Union Bank Center.

The Mena boys basketball teams competed at the Harding Team Camp this past weekend! The Bearcats travel to Southeastern Oklahoma State next Sunday evening for another team camp!

The Jr. Bearcats competed in the Greenwood Team Camp on Monday. The team will be at the Charleston Team Camp on June 11th.

Teams from Berryville, Mineral Springs, Booneville, Waldron, Horatio, Dierks, Foreman and Lavaca participated in the Mena Team Football Camp on Tuesday at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium and the Hensley Activity Center. The Bearcats are back in action on Monday at the Charleston Team Camp. The 2025 season opener is August 29th when Mena plays DeQueen at BCBS.

A send off for Ladycat Soccer was held on Wednesday at all four Mena campuses. The Ladycats are a 2 seed in the 4A State Tournament and will play Warren on Thursday at 9:00am at Robinson High School in Little Rock.

Arkansas’ top high school track athletes met on Wednesday at the Meet of Champions. Mena High School Junior Elliott Dugan came in second overall in the high jump.

Ladycat Soccer will be a 2 seed in the 4A State Tournament. They will play Warren on May 15th at 9:00am at Robinson High School in Little Rock.
