
Thursday was day two of preseason dress up practice for Jr. High volleyball. Players were encouraged to dress in western wear.


EVAN LEONARD was the medalist today at the Waldron Country Club and led the Bearcats to their first win of the season.

The Mena High School golf team's season began on Tuesday at the Degray Lake Golf Course. The Bearcats were led by Rhett Brotherton with a 79. Tne team is back in action on Wednesday at the Waldron Country Club.

The Mena High School cheer team was hard at work early Tuesday prepping for 2023/2024 !


Transportation Supervisor James Davis says the Mena School District's busses are ready, routes have been planned and inspections passed in preparation for the 2023-2024 school year.
He asks that all area drivers remember that school busses will be back on the streets and highways transporting students to and from school beginning August 16th.

Football teams from Hackett, Mt. Ida, Horatio, Mansfield & Berryville joined Mena at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium for a team camp on Wednesday.
The Bearcats scrimmage Mansfield on August 15th and the season opener is August 25th against DeQueen at BCBS.

Mena High School and Mena Middle School teachers attended a workshop in Jacksonville, AR this week for Arkansas. Arkansas Advanced Initiative for Math and Science, Inc., (AR AIMS), is an organization affiliated with the National Math & Science Initiative. AR AIMS opens the door for all middle school and high school students in Arkansas to reach their academic potential by offering high quality, student centered teacher training and support to empower teachers to become more effective in advanced instructional methods and strategies.
