Mena Bearcat Coaches select #32, Chris Bollmeyer, as the Farm Bureau Insurance Player of the Game for week #12 vs. Arkadelphia. Chris is a Senior, Defensive Cornerback for the Bearcats and had 4 tackles and a pass breakup against the Badgers in Mena’s 2nd round playoff game. Unfortunately, the Bearcats’ season came to a close that night, losing to the Badgers by a score of 34-7. Chris is the son of Sharon and Shawn Bollmeyer and was born here in Mena. Chris says that he plans to work with his Father after graduation, in the family’s local residential construction business. Mena ended the season with an undisputed Conference Championship, the first since 1996. The Bearcat squad and coaching staff are to be congratulated upon being able to complete the season and to be so successful, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. Farm Bureau Insurance is a proud supporter of Mena Bearcat athletics!!!

The Jr. Bearcats & Ladycats play at Trinity in Fort Smith on Thursday at 4:30pm. No fans will be allowed to attend.

No games for the Mena Sr. Bearcats & Ladycats this week but practice continues. The Sr's will play at Hot Springs Lakeside on Tuesday 12/8.

According to Coach Randy Peters the Jr. & Sr. High basketball games scheduled for Tuesday 12/1/20 at Waldron have been cancelled. Also the Sr. High games against Monticello scheduled for Friday 12/4/20 have also been cancelled. The Mena football season came to a close Friday night at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. Mena lost the 1st round playoff game to Arkadelphia by a score of 34-7. The Bearcats finish the season with a record of 6-4 & a 4-4A Conference Championship.

Blended & virtual student meals for November 23rd-November 27th may be picked up today at Louise Durham Elementary or Mena High School between 1 and 2 pm.

The Mena senior boys basketball team played at Greenwood on Thursday. Greenwood won the JV game 36-22 & they also won the varsity game 61-27. Mena will play next on 12/1 at Waldron.

Congratulations to Mena High School Senior MORGAN PUCKETT for being named a Heisman High School Scholarship School Winner! Eligibility begins with maintaining a weighted GPA of 3.0 (B average) or better. Applicants also need to be proven leaders and role models within their school and community. And applicants must participate or have participated in grades 9, 10, or 11 in at least one of the 48 school sponsored sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games or the National Federation of State High School Associations.
