Mena preschool was decked out in pink to welcome parents to the Spring Picnic on Thursday at Louise Durham Elementary.


Special education teachers recently attended their 2nd round of Training of Trainers, The training was held at the Dawson Educational Cooperative in Arkadelphia.
These trainings are a designed to equip district educators to support other educators in their district around inclusive practices.

The Instructional Leader Empowerment professional development focuses on growing Arkansas educators to support growth in professional and instructional practices.
Tiffany and Katie completed their work in The Leadership Academy by creating an instructional manifesto based on the power of leading through literacy!📚


Read Across America 2024 finale📚🎉
Students were challenged with a school wide reading goal of 3,000 books! The students met the reading goal by Friday and read over 6,000 books school wide: ending with a Pie In The Face Celebration!
This week was filled with dress up days, book challenges , guest readers , book talks , read alouds, book competitions and so much fun!
We walked away knowing we will continue to try new stories , read more books, start new book series , and most importantly grow as life long readers


Congratulations to our Second Grade Battle of the Books team who placed FIRST PLACE at the 2024 competition at the Dequeen Mena Co-Op🎉🥇
Battle of the Books is a quiz style competition between area schools based on their knowledge of books, characters and the details from the stories they have read and studied.
We are so proud of their determination, hardwork and teamwork as they represented Mena Public Schools so well in todays competition!


Read Across America Kickoff 2024
We kicked off Read Across America 2024 with Lots of reading excitement!
“Hog Wild For Reading” lead our day as we teamed up with The University of Arkansas to push the importance of reading!
Arkansas Razorback football players and Lady Razorback basketball players read aloud to our students and talked about their favorite books!
Lots of read alouds , lots of books checked out in the library, free book giveaways to our little readers and mostly importantly we read lots of good books!

The Mena School District would like to offer much deserved recognition to the people we rely on to safely transport our students. If you have the opportunity please give thanks to your Mena bus drivers.


The Mena Public Schools presented Sarah Carrell with a certificate of appreciation today as a part of her 90th birthday celebration. Carrell was a longtime employee of the district and continues to serve as a foster grandparent.
