
The Mena Jr. High Basketball Teams hodted Nashville at JIm Rackley Gymnasium Monday night... The Jr. Ladycats won 42-33 & the Jr. Girls JV won 22-9. The Mena 7th grade girls lost by a score of 20-27. The Junior Boys JV lost 6-28 & the Jr. Bearcats lost by a score of 27-36. The Jr. Teams will be back in action on Thursday at DeQueen starting at 4:30pm.

Centerpoint defeated the Sr. Bearcats 47-44 in overtime.

The Jr. Ladycats lost to Bryant 27-38. They will play again Saturday at 4:30pm.
The Sr. Ladycats beat L.R. Hall 73-49. They will play Saturday at 1:30pm.
The Jr. Bearcats lost to Arkadelphia 36-40.
The Sr. Bearcats lost to Kirby 28-55. They will play Saturday at 11:30am.

The Mena Sr Basketball Teams played at Malvern Friday night. The Ladycats won by a score of 48-19 & the Bearcats lost by a score of 39-45. Mena will play in the Kameron Hale Tournament at Lake Hamilton January 2nd, 3rd & 4th... GO BEARCATS!


Bearcat Cheerleaders will be competing in the AAA State Cheer Competition Saturday. They will perform at 8:26, 9:40, and 11:34 for a chance at finals. Finals will be held from 1:45-2:10 and awards will be at 3:15. Competition will be held at the Hot Spring Convention Center.

The Mena School Board conducted their December meeting at the Administration Building Tuesday Night.
Superintendent Benny Weston's report consisted of information on the recent Thanksgiving & Christmas meals served at each cafeteria. Almost 1200 meals were served to parents this year.
The board next accepted a bid on workmans compensation insurance insurance from the Arkansas School Board Association. The annual premium is $24,442.00.
Approval was also given to the 2020 Master Plan, Student transfers, the annual stipend list & the financial report.
One personnel item was addressed at the conclusion of the meeting. The board accepted the resignation of Piet Fieldman.


The Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest was held this morning at Mena High School. The faculty winner was Ray Willard & the student winner was Bryce Reeves. The judges were Brooke Hines as well as Mena School Board members Susan Rowell & Robby Hines.... Merry Christmas Bearcats!!!!



The Bearcats defeated Cossatot for the second time this season 37-19 Monday night. Cossatot won the Sr. Girls game 39-31. Mena will be back in action Friday 12/20 at Malvern.

We have Gatorade, Water, Chips, Beef Jerky and Rice Krispy Treats that are available for purchase if you have money in your lunch account.
Students you must get a juice and/or fruit at breakfast.
FRESHMEN are not allowed to come to the library during Lunch for the remainder of the semester due to behavior.
Be sure to order your 2020 MHS Yearbook before you go home for Christmas Break, while it’s still at the current lowest price of $53. The yearbook price will increase to $60 on January 1, with the final deadline to order a yearbook being January 31. See Mr. Philpot in room 205 to place your order with cash or check, or for more information.
This Thursday, December 19, will be the deadline for Yearbook Senior Ad orders, as well as submitting pictures and wording for ads that have been purchased so far. See Mr. Philpot for more information.
Students are not to be in the hallways during Lunch A or Lunch B. The library, cafeteria, or patio are available areas during lunch.
Students taking classes with UA Rich Mountain who borrowed a book please return the book to Mrs. Thacker before you leave before the holiday break.
All students will attend their regularly assigned enrichment class for the remainder of the semester!


The Mena Basscats competed in the AYFA High School State wide tournament at Lake Hamilton on Sunday. The Basscats had two teams finish in the top 5. Austin Johnston and Cason Cannon (the reigning AYFA anglers of the year) took 2nd place. Austin Rose and Evan Graves took 4th place. The Basscats would like to say thank you to all of our sponsors. We cannot do this without your help. We hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season.



Mena Basketball hosted Hope at the Union Bank Center Friday Night. The Ladycats defeated Hope 64-39 & Hope won the Sr. Boys contest 44-36... The Mena teams will play at Cossatot on Monday 12/16.
