This year we are happy to announce we are able to provide you with after school library hours and tutoring. The schedule for this is:
Monday: Mrs. Hooker 3:30 to 7 pm
Tuesday: Mrs. Hoyle or Ms. Catlett 3:30 to 7 pm
Wednesday: Ms. Ashcraft 3:30 to 6 pm
Thursday: Mrs. Hoyle or Ms. Catlett 3:30 to 7 pm
Saturday: Mrs. Hoyle or Ms. Catlett 9:00 to 12:00
This is time that you can use to study, gather for a group meeting, use our new makerspace, or get help with assignments.
If you sign up for it before the end of school, snacks will be provided. Saturday tutoring must be signed up for by Friday, the google form can be found in your “Class Of…” Google Classroom.
Math tutoring will be each morning from 7:15-8:00, and each Monday- Wednesday after school til 4:15.
Ms. Hendrix will be tutoring after school on Thursdays til 5:15.
If you would like to be in the school play, The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood, come by Ms. Kropp’s room 201 and pick up an audition paper. The play is open to all MHS students. Auditions will be next week on Tuesday from 6:30-8:30 and Thursday from 4-6 in the MHS PAC.

Our first meeting will be Friday, September 10th and the deadline for conference registration is Wednesday, September 15th.
The Mena High School Cheerleading team is doing a “Paint the Paw” fundraiser. Get your parking spot painted with your name and graduation year for $25! Deadline to order your parking spot is this Friday, September 3rd! See Coach Hughes in room 315 for details or to purchase your Paw.
The FFA Organization is now accepting new members to join! There will be a meeting on September 10th in the Ag Building during Enrichment, this will be the first meeting of the year and it is encouraged for new members or interested students to attend. Dues are $17 and are encouraged to be paid as soon as possible. WE would love to see you there, and get to know you!

Ms. Labertew will be set up in the cafeteria each Friday during lunch, ready for you to teach her a new skill or a trick. Once you show her how it’s done, she will attempt to perform it as well. Whether it’s juggling, roping, a card trick, or even dance moves, Ms. Labertew is ready for you to teach her something new. Look for her in the cafeteria each Friday during lunch for the “Teach Me How To…” events.

Mena Coaches have selected #15, Austin Rose, as the Farm Bureau Insurance Player of the Game for Week #1 vs. perineal rival, DeQueen.
Austin played very well at the Quarterback position last Friday night and led Mena to a 42-7 season opening victory over the Leopards.
Austin’s stats for the game included 272 passing yards, throwing for 2 TD’s and rushing for another. He also kicked 4 extra points for the Bearcats.
Austin is the son of Phillip and Leilani Rose, and the brother of Kacie Rose and Natalie Ledbetter, all of Mena.

This is Austin’s final year as a Bearcat, also playing baseball in the spring semester, as either shortstop or pitcher.
Austin’s hobbies include both hunting and fishing , but he excels at bass fishing. He and fishing partner, Jarrett Berger, represented Mena High School
very well recently at the National High School finals in South Carolina, with a 15th place overall finish.
After high school, Austin would like to compete professionally as a tournament bass fisherman, and is wanting to pursue a career in either coaching
or to become a Game Warden with the AR Game and Fish Commission.
This week, Austin and the Bearcats will host the Clarksville Panthers, at Randall Horton field, beginning at 7:00

MHS Cheer did their part to secure a 42-7 win on opening night at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium... GO BEARCATS!!!


The Mena Bearcats led 15-0 at the half & rolled in the second half enroute to a 42-7 win over DeQueen Friday at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. Mena will be back at home next Friday when they host Clarksville. Clarksville lost to Ozark in overtime 14-13 this week.

Coach Luttmer’s MHS AE Math students took part in some new activities this week including the Bear and Fish Ice Fishing dice game to help with counting techniques, and the Switch/Change/Go game in which students practiced following directions. It’s always nice to combine learning with fresh air!


Sports Surface Management was at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium on Thursday prepping the turf on Randall Whorton Field for the football season. The first game is Friday at 7pm against DeQueen. Go Bearcats!!!!
