This year, we will host the first annual Homecoming Semi-Formal Dance. Dress is semi-formal and tickets must be purchased in advance. More information on ticket sales coming soon! FBLA has been waiting for an in person conference for a year and it is happening! The Fall District Leadership Conference will be held in Fort Smith on Monday, October 4th. Before you are able to go to the conference….YOU MUST JOIN!!! Membership dues are $20 and there is a $20 registration fee to attend the fall conference. Beginning TODAY, See Mrs. Torix to pay dues and register for the conference! The deadline for conference registration is Wednesday, September 15th. Students: Some of you completed the FBLA membership form last spring before school ended. If you did not pay your dues, please see Mrs. Torix to complete your membership no later than Friday, September 3rd. After school if you are needing to cross the bus loop please use the crosswalk. We do not want any accidents. The Mena High School Cheerleading team is doing a “Paint the Paw” fundraiser. Get your parking spot painted with your name and graduation year for $25! The FFA Organization is now accepting new members to join! There will be a meeting on September 10th in the Ag Building during Enrichment, this will be the first meeting of the year and it is encouraged for new members or interested students to attend. Dues are $17 and are encouraged to be paid as soon as possible. WE would love to see you there, and get to know you! Students, as we work toward keeping everyone healthy and safe here at Mena High School, please do not come to school with Flu like or COVID-like symptoms. -Positive COVID cases will have to ISOLATE for 10 days before returning to school -IF you wear a mask correctly and have been identified as a Close Contact, you will not have to quarantine. -If not wearing a mask, and you have been identified as a Close Contact, you will have to quarantine for 7-10 days if you have NOT been vaccinated. Students, you have the opportunity to be the teacher each Friday during Lunch A and Lunch B. Ms. Labertew will be set up in the cafeteria each Friday during lunch, ready for you to teach her a new skill or a trick. Once you show her how it’s done, she will attempt to perform it as well. Weather it’s juggling, roping, a card trick, or even dance moves, Ms. Labertew is ready for you to teach her something new. Look for her in the cafeteria each Friday during lunch for the “Teach Me How To…” events. Powder Puff Football will take place at 6:30pm on Wednesday, September 22nd, following the Homecoming Parade, at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. All proceeds will go to Bearcats For a Cure Relay for Life Team. Students who want to participate need to see Ms.Hobson or contact your class team captain! Mena Jr. High Volleyball will play at Greenwood today beginning with the JV game at 4:30pm. Mena Jr. High Football plays at Mansfield this evening with kickoff at 7:00pm. The 7th grade game scheduled for tonight has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Mile Split has released the Arkansas Class 4A Cross Country Preseason Rankings & the Mena boys are ranked 7th. The season begins on September 7th. GO BEARCATS !

Jostens will be in the MHS Performing Arts Center during enrichment on 10/28 to discuss and handout packets for Senior Rings. They will return and a Jostens representative will be set up in the Counseling Center on 11/3 to take orders.

Mena Volleyball hosted Lake Hamilton Monday at Jim Rackley Gymnasium & the Union Bank Center.. The 7th Grade Ladycats lost 9-25 & 0-25. The Jr. High Ladycats won 25-18 & 25-23 The Sr. Ladycats won 25-15, 25-12 & 25-18 Mena will play at Greenwood on Thursday.

Mena Volleyball will host Lake Hamilton at the Union Bank Center. The 7th Grade, Jr. JV, Sr. JV. Jr. High & Sr. High teams will play beginning at 4:30pm. MHS Golf will play at Hot Springs Village in a match hosted by Jessieville..

Mena Sr, Boys Golf competed at the Nashville Country Club on Monday. Mena finished in third behind Nashville & Hope.. Malvern & Bauxite also competed.. Varsity Sean Sullivan-48 Rhett Brotherton-53 Alex Rocha-54 Evan Leonard-56 Team-155 Jr. Varsity Brody Peters-42 Cooper Plunkett-60 Mena will be back in action on Tuesday at Hot Springs Village. GO BEARCATS!!

The Ladycats had a good night at the Union Bank Center on Monday & defeated Waldron 25-13, 25-10 & 25-9. Mena is 1-0 & will face Lake Hamilton on Tuesday at the UBC. Games begin at 4:30pm. GO LADYCATS !!!

The Jr. Ladycats were firing on all cylinders in the season opener on Monday afternoon. Mena defeated Waldron 25-20 & 25-17 at the Union Bank Center. The girls are back in action on Tuesday when they host Lake Hamilton. Games start at 4:30pm in the UBC. GO LADYCATS!!!

Mena Volleyball will play their season opener against Waldron at the Union Bank Center beginning at 4:00pm this afternoon. The Jr. High Varsity, Senior JV & Senior High Varsity will be in action. Mena Golf will be playing at the Nashville Country Club beginning at 3:30pm.

Mena Volleyball lost to Van Buren 1-2 in Thursdays benefit game. The score was 25-27, 25-7 & 21-25. The Ladycats will play their season opener on Monday against Waldron at the Union Bank Center.
