
The Jr. Ladycats won the Malvern Volleyball Tournament on Saturday. Mena was 3-0 in pool play & then defeated Bauxite, Magnolia & Sylvan Hills to win the Championship. Go Ladycats!!!


The Mena Bearcats scored on the first play of the game & never looked back enroute to a 47-14 homecoming win on Friday night. Mena improves to 3-2 / 1-0.
Mena will host Pottsville on Friday 10/1 & it will be senior night at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium.

Friday - Sr. Football home vs. Waldron. Theme for the student section will be White Out/Bling Out
Students, please be aware that once you enter the gate for home football and volleyball games, you are not allowed to leave or go to the parking lot and come back into the facility. Once you leave the gate, you are making the decision to leave the ball game for the night, and you cannot pay to re-enter either.

We have our teams set for the Dodgefest Tournament. The dodgeball tournament will begin 30 minutes after the final buzzer of the Friday night’s football game.
Anyone who would like to join FCCLA please see Mrs. Wilson or Mrs. Hobson. Dues are $15 and can be paid anytime this month.

Students, as we work toward keeping everyone healthy and safe here at Mena High School, please do not come to school with Flu like or COVID-like symptoms.

On Monday, September 27, will be school picture day with Lifetouch for all 9th, 10th, and 11th graders, as well as faculty. We will be doing pictures Monday morning in the safe room. Picture day order forms are being distributed in Enrichment classes, but even if you don’t plan to buy any pictures, we still need your photo taken for the yearbook.
October 1 is the deadline for the Yearbook Senior Ad Early Bird Special. If you purchase your a full page ad by October 1, you can save $100. See Mr. Philpot in room 205 for more information.

IV. 7 th & 8 th grade ETS students will be meeting on Monday during ACHIEVE.
V. We only have a little over two weeks left in the first grading quarter and your first report card. Make sure you
are keeping up with your work and doing your best. Remember that when you are absent, it is up to you to
get your make up work completed.
VI. Today’s Homecoming Pep Rally begins at 9:00. Here are the procedures:
At 8:40, I will release the 8 th graders, followed by the 7 th , then 6 th graders.
Leave your backpacks and other belongings in your 1 st period class. They will not be allowed into the
stadium, though you may take your water bottle.
You will exit the building through the doors that go to the bus loading area.
Enter the stadium through the back gate near the bus loop and be seated in the visitor’s bleachers. HHE
will also be sitting in those bleachers, so we will sit on the south end of the bleachers, the end closest to
our school.
After the pep rally, you will return to your 1 st period class, get your belongings, and go to 2 nd period.
VII. Tonight’s Homecoming ceremony and crowning of the queen begins at 6:30. Kickoff for the football game is
7:00. There will be a large crowd tonight, remember that school rules apply. Because of a couple of recent
incidents at ballgames, horseplay will not be tolerated. Remain seated in the bleachers unless going to and
from the concession stand and restroom.

The Mena 7th & Jr. High football teams played at Waldron on Thursday.
The Jr. High Bearcats defeated Waldron by a score of 35-0. With the win they improve to 4-1 on the season.
The 7th Grade also beat Waldron by a score of 22-8. both teams will play at Pottsville on 9/30.


The Mena Ladycats claimed first place in conference play on Thursday with a 3-0 win over Ft. Lake. The score was 25-21, 25-18 & 25-21. Ft. Lake falls to 4-1 in conference play. Mena improves to 5-0 & remains undefeated on the season.
The Ladycats will play on Saturday in the Lakeside Tournament.

Mena Jr. Volleyball lost the first set to Ft. Lake but came back to win the second set 25-12 & the third set 16-14. A big win for the Jr. Ladycats, They will return to the court on Saturday at the Malvern Tournament. GO LADYCATS!!!

Mrs. Floyd's Fabulous Firsties celebrated Johnny Appleseed by dressing up and making applesauce!!!


Jessica Kropp & the cast of Robin Hood were hard at work on Thursday in the MHS Performing Arts Center.


Congratulations to the winners of the door decoration contest at Mena High School.
First place wins 25 points for the spirit barrel, 2nd place wins 20, 3rd place wins 15, and the two honorable mentions win 10.


MHS students participating in the homecoming ceremony on Friday were put thru their paces today. The festivities begin at 6:30pm on Friday at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. The big game against Waldron kicks off at 7:00pm. GO BEARCATS!

Mena Golf will play in the boys 7-4A District Match at Degray today.
Jr. & Sr. Volleyball will host Ft. Lake at the Union Bank Center beginning at 4:00pm.
7th Grade & Jr. Football will play at Waldron with kickoff at 5:30pm & 7:00pm.


POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL 2021
The Juniors defeated the Seniors by a score of 14-7 in an overtime thriller at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium on Wednesday. A good crowd was on hand and the entertainment was well worth the price of admission. CONGRATULATIONS JUNIORS !!!


Mena Golf competed in the 7-4A Tournament at Degray on Wednesday. Madi Lyle led the Ladycats with a 105. Emmi Hines had a 119 & Emma Threlkeld a 140. Lyle qualified for the 4A State Tournament to be played September 27th-29th. GO LADYCATS !
