I. Reminders:
Voluntary picture retakes are next Wednesday. Forms are available in the office.
Tomorrow will be our second “Flex Friday.”
II. Today during 6 th period, meals will once again be handed out. Do not take one of these
meals if you are coming to school tomorrow. These meals are only for those of you who
will be staying home for Flex Friday. If you take a meal, do not open it at school. We had
problems last week with some of you wanting to make a mess.
III. Mask Warning: We are once again, seeing a problem with many of you not wearing your
masks properly. If you continue to have an issue with this, we will begin contacting parents
to come get you and take you home. The school mask guidelines are set by the Arkansas
Dept of Health, and the Arkansas Department of Education.

As with many other normal school routines, our Parent/Teacher Conferences will be different. Our teachers, paras, and principals have been in contact with parents and guardians in the first 9 weeks by phone, email, and messaging through social media. Our teachers have been logging their interactions with you as an ongoing parent/teacher conference.
Our regular conferences are scheduled for November 10th, 11th, and 12th, on our District Calendar. Our teachers will be in regular communication as the need arises but if you have not conferenced with your child(ren)’s teacher(s), please contact them and schedule a call or video conversation to take place on November 10th through 12th, from the hours of 3:30 to 7:30 pm.


The Jr High Basketball season begins on Monday, November 9th. Due to social distancing requirements, all home games will be played at the Union Bank Center at Mena High School. There will be no basketball games in Jim Rackley Gymnasium at MMS. With these being indoor events, mask requirements will be strictly enforced. If you attend basketball games, wear your mask.

There will be a limited number of tickets available to the general public that can be picked up at the Central Office on Friday 11/6 from 8:00am to 3:45pm. You must wear a mask to the Central Office when picking up tickets.
The visiting team and fans will enter the stadium through the large gate at the Northside of the stadium.
The visiting bleachers have been marked off to ensure proper social
distancing. Please wear your mask and social distance while attending the game
Visiting fans must present their tickets and pay at the gate.

Today’s Sci-Fi Club Meeting is in the Library (right now) due to the PAC being taken by the ASVAB.
The FFA is holding its annual"Big Buck Contest" for the 2020 deer season.
You must be a paid FFA member to enter.
The buck must be a whitetail deer killed during the 2020 deer season.
The buck must have been officially checked by the FFA member prior to scoring.
The antlers will be scored by Mr Maye or Mr Goodnight.
1st Place-$100 2nd Place-$50 3rd Place- $25
If you have signed up for a FFA T-shirt in the Ag Building, you need to pay for it no later than Friday, November 6th. The cost is $15. Those that do not pay by Friday will not receive a shirt!

This morning during enrichment high school and middle school FFA members attended the monthly FFA chapter meeting in the Agriculture building. Before the meeting the winners of the Mena FFA Raffle were drawn. Congratulations to our winners 1st Navya Morris, 2nd Toby Watkins, and 3rd Makori Gabourel! During the meeting members got to learn about two more of the Career Development Events they will have the opportunity to compete in during the spring semester. Today the officer team and members of the Ag. Mechanics and Forestry teams taught the members about their CDE of choice and the areas and skills they use to compete in them. Members had the opportunity to test some of those skills by identifying trees in forestry and discussing the areas in the mechanics contest.

The Basscats were in action on Lake Millwood this past Sunday.
They were competing in the AYFF Four States Bass Classic sponsored by Bradford Marine. Bradford Marine is the main sponsor for the Arkansas Youth Federation Team Trail. Austin Rose and Jarrett Burger took 6th place and caught the Big Bass for the tournament. Cooper Plunkett & Brady Montgomery also competed.
The Basscats will be back in action December 5 on Lake Millwood for the Trader Bills High School Tournament Trail Series. Announcements for Monday, November 2 nd

II. Reminder that the Leadership class is still taking donations of diapers and other baby items. Also, if
you wish to donate money, you can come to the office and place your money in the giant baby
bottle.
III. From Mr. McCormick: Tomorrow there will be an FFA meeting at the high school. Meet Mr.
McCormick in the cafeteria after tomorrow’s announcements.
Reminder if you want to be entered into the drawing for FFA gear you must pay your dues to Mr.
McCormick today. We will be doing the drawing tomorrow during the FFA meeting.
If you are wanting to be an eighth grade FFA officer, please pick up an application from Mr.
McCormick in class or check the FFA google classroom for a digital copy.
IV. From Mrs. Rose: Thank you to BADD members who helped plan Red Ribbon week and also to all
who participated. Thursday's statistic was 668 of 750 youth in Polk County did not participate in
underage drinking last year.
Congratulations to the winner Camden Murphy, consolation winners are Jimmy Trickel, Own
Simpson and Alyana Chaney.
Friday's Statistic- Marijuana is a psychoactive drug that contains 500 chemicals, including THC.
Congratulations to Brakiah Burk on the win and Jude Andrews on the consolation prize. All winners
see Mrs. Rose to get your prize.
Last call on coloring contest entries. Turn those to Mrs. Rose by noon to enter the contest.
V. Picture re-takes are scheduled for next Wednesday, November 11 th . Picture re-takes are voluntary.
If you would like to participate, you can come to the office and see Ms. Alyssa for an order form.

This year WE will be selling FUDGE for our fall fundraiser. This fundraiser will still be through the Pop Pop Shoppe, but WE decided to try a new product this time around. :)
Your student will earn incentives throughout the sales period. Attached, you will find coupons that are redeemable for our mythical creature keychains! Please read carefully as to when the coupons can be turned in. They can be turned in after sales of 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15...items at a time. Just initial that your child has sold that amount and they earn a key chain & a lanyard!
FUDGE SALES will begin on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd and end on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16th. All money must be collected at the time of the sale and any checks are to be made out to: THE POP POP SHOPPE. *ALL MONEY MUST BE TURNED IN TO YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER by November 16th.
This fudge will be great for the holidays! As always, we appreciate your support. Proceeds earned from this sale will go back to the students to provide incentives throughout the school year and added improvements to our school. If you have any questions, please contact our office at 394-3151.

I. Reminders:

get a free fruit, vegetable, and milk. You must get all 3 items in order to get them for

Daylight Savings Time ends this weekend…set your clocks back one hour Saturday
night.

today will go to Lunch “B.”
