Announcements for Tuesday, September 15 th
I. Mid-term grade reports will be given out tomorrow.
II. Students, this is a reminder that we are able to see everything you search for on your
school-owned device and your teachers and administrators get alerts for any searches that
are deemed inappropriate. Do not use your Chromebook for anything other than class-
related work.
III. School pictures are scheduled for two weeks from today. Picture forms will be given out
once we receive them. You are not required to purchase pictures, however, everyone will
have their picture taken for the yearbook and for photo ID cards.
IV. You may begin placing orders for a yearbook. You will get the cheapest price if you order
in the next few weeks. There are a couple of different methods for ordering:
1) Visit jostens.com
2) Pick up an order form from Mrs. Lunsford’s classroom.

Any student wanting to order a Letter Jacket, the order packets are in the office. These have to be completed and ordered by September 23.
An FBLA membership form was sent to your email on Thursday, Sept 3rd. If you are interested in joining, please complete the form that was sent via email and bring your $15 to Mrs. Torix.
The FBLA Fall Conference date has been changed so registration is open again if you would like to attend. The new deadline is Oct 2nd! Cost is $15 to attend and receive an FBLA t-shirt
Be sure to order your Mena High School yearbook before October 1 to take advantage of the lowest price of $50. If you personalize your yearbook before October 1 with your name on it for an additional $6, you will receive four free icons for the cover. See Mr. Philpot in room 205 for the new format for ordering yearbooks this year.
Senior pictures retakes and make-up picture day will be Monday, September 21. If you did not get your senior pictures taken on the original date in July, we will need you to get your pictures taken for yearbook purposes, even if you don’t plan to purchase any of the photos.
School day pictures with Lifetouch will be on Monday, September 28, for grades 9, 10, and 11, as well as faculty. This will be the only school picture day Lifetouch plans to offer to Mena High School this year, so we need everyone to be at school that day to get their photo taken for the yearbook.
Anyone interested in joining Sci-Fi Club this year, there will be no dues this year, just sign up with Ms. Hooker to join! Even Blended students will have access to the Google Classroom.
Friday, September 18 - SAU College Representative will be on campus for a visit. The representative will be in the JAG classes in PAC, and any seniors, not in JAG, during Enrichment.
Homecoming is a school-wide celebration, and as we prepare for our Homecoming event next month, you, the entire student body, have the opportunity to choose who the 2020 Homecoming Queen will be. Available to all students today is the ballot to vote for Homecoming Queen, which will be selected from one of the four Senior Maids that were chosen last week. All grades have access to the ballot as of Enrichment, so please look for the ballot either on your email or your grade level Google Classroom, and cast your vote for Homecoming Queen by the end of the school day today.


The Mansfield Jr. Girls won 2-0 & handed Mena their fourth loss of the season at the Union Bank Center Monday. The Mena Jr. JV won their match 2 games to 0.
The Jr. Ladycats are back in action on Tuesday at Magnolia..


Due to a cancellation & a bye week the Junior Bearcats have had a two week break from games. They did get a practice in this morning & both the 7th grade & Jr. High teams will play at Lamar this Thursday.

must wear a mask in order to attend school as per State requirements.

Mena Golf will play at the Nashville Country Club at 3:30pm. Mena Volleyball will host Mansfield with games starting at 4:30pm.


The Bearcats lost to Hot Springs in overtime 13-20 Friday night. Mena falls to 1-2 & will try to bounce back at Booneville next Friday 9/18!!!!


Governor Asa Hutchinson conducted his daily update to media from UA Rich Mountain in Mena on Friday regarding Arkansas’s COVID-19 response.
This gave Mena Public School Superintendent Benny Weston an opportunity to speak to the governor in person about issues affecting MPS & the district’s start to the new school year.


Life savers for life savers! Life savers and cards from Mena Middle School FACS students are being delivered to local first responders to remember and honor first responders who lost their lives 9/11/2001.


The 2020 Mena High School Homecoming Court was revealed this morning, based on the results of the MHS students' votes yesterday. The Homecoming maids were each surprised during class with a rose from the Seniors of the Mena Bearcat football team. The 2020 MHS Homecoming Court is:

Other sports are grabbing the headlines right now but preparations are underway for the 20/21 basketball season. Bearcat Head Basketball Coach Randy Peters put the team thru a workout Friday morning.



Virtual, blended, or non-enrolled students have to sign up for meals every week. Meals may be picked up at Louise Durham Elementary or Mena High School on Fridays between 1 and 2pm.
