Attention Mena High School Senior Class of 2021!
While our world has been less than normal and routine for the past few months, we are busy making arrangements for the first round of senior pictures for your class as we prepare for whatever the upcoming school year may look like. Prestige by Lifetouch is coming to Mena High School on Monday, July 6, for your senior portraits!
Be on the lookout for your postcard to come in the mail, which will not only give you your designated appointment time, but will include other necessary details to prepare us all for this special day of pictures. The postcards are being sent to the mailing addresses we had on file at the school for you as of when we went home in March. Once you receive your postcard, you will need to go on Prestigeportraits.com to confirm your appointment time. No walk ins are allowed so you must confirm an appointment to be photographed on this day.
There will be multiple safety protocols in place to ensure that this photo experience is successful, memorable, and safe for all involved. Each student is required to bring a helper, which can be a parent, a sibling, or a friend, but each student is only allowed one person to accompany them for the picture session appointment. Each person (students and their helpers, photographers, school staff) will be required to have their temperature taken and answer a series of questions before entering the safe room for photos. Also, each person will be required to bring their own face mask, and they must be worn at all times. Seniors will be allowed to remove their face coverings when they sit down for their pictures.
Even if you do not plan to purchase any of these senior portraits, the school and yearbook staff still need to have you get your pictures taken for various uses during your senior year. If you are unable to attend this scheduled picture day, there is currently a make-up picture day scheduled for Monday, September 21.
Be on the lookout for more information coming in the next two weeks, and please contact Andy Philpot, MHS Yearbook Adviser, at andy.philpot@menaschools.org with any questions you may have as we get closer to picture day!

Mrs. Ashcraft wants to remind all Mena High School students to return all library books. Seniors, please check your school Email to see if you still have books out. A box is located at the front entrance.

Attention 2020 Seniors
We will be having a drive-thru pick up for the Cords & Stoles on Thursday, June 25 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. under the awning at the MMS bus loop. Exact change or a check is required. Students please check your Emails for a list of items and prices or you may call the high school office.
Commencement will be July 18th at 9am with students arriving at 8am.
Practice will be at 8am on July 17th. Participation in practice IS REQUIRED.

Coach Sandifer & Coach Johnson put the Bearcat Baseball Team thru their paces this morning at Union Bank Park.

We have received new guidance on outdoor venues, and are able to increase the number of people in the stadium for our July 18th event.
Graduating seniors will be receiving a call from the office asking for your number required. Your first notification from me only allowed two tickets for the field and four in the bleachers, but we have now added to this number.
Currently we can allow two (2) on the field and up to eight (8) in the bleachers. Expect the call and get your numbers ready.
I look forward to seeing you at practice on July 17th at 7:30 a.m. in the MMS parking lot.

Jr Ladycats and 7th grade Jr Ladycats have been working hard the past two weeks in the weight room, foot/speed work and skill work. Coach Fryar and Coach Goss have been very proud of them.

Hello, this is Coach Peters! I have been wanting to get an app that allows players and parents to see practice times and schedules! I have never had much luck with the Remind app, so I thought I would try the BAND app. I will be posting the link for the app for all parents and players below! I would love to get feedback from parents/players about the app through the comments or messenger! Please share, so we can get the word out to all parents/players! Thank you! When you sign up please put your FIRST and LAST name so I can contact you if I ever need to!
Hey, join our 'Mena Bearcat Basketball' group on BAND - The app for groups and communities!

Congratulations Austin Johnston on winning the 2020 Terry (Pops) Hudgens Memorial Scholarship. He will be attending Arkansas Tech this fall where he will pursue his fishing career. We would like to thank Trader Bill’s for all of their help with the scholarship.

The current situation and restrictions regarding Covid-19 have led us as a chapter to decide not to participate in the 2019-2020 State FFA Virtual LDE and CDE contests. Based on the inability to practice, meet as a group, and the possibility of not having access to the proper technology needed for every student, we feel like this would be extremely difficult to pull off. Also, there will be NO National CDE or LDE contest this fall in Indianapolis. This is an unfortunate situation for all but especially for our senior members and we have this! We appreciate your understanding during these challenging times and look forward to getting back to some normalcy in the future!
