Mena baseball lost a game at Lake Hamilton Thursday by a score of 3-13.. The Bearcats will play again Friday at Malvern..

The sixth grade GT Quiz Bowl participated in the Murfreesboro Invitational Quiz Bowl on Thursday, March 12.  There were 10 teams. Our team was seeded first  after lunch and ended up taking first place at the end of the day, as well. We are so proud of them! Today's non-conference softball game at Dierks has been cancelled due to concerns about late evening weather. Also the softball game vs Bauxite on 3/19 has been cancelled... The Governor’s Office is in charge of making the decision to close schools. The Mena School District has been told we are presently still at a low risk and will remain open. Any further closings will come through the Governor’s Office. We are following all precautionary steps. Thank you.

LDE Book Fair is next week!

With today being 2020 Spring Sports Picture Day for all the spring teams and players, we will be able to complete the design of the 2020 Mena Spring Sports Souvenir Program. If you would like to purchase an ad for your player or your business, please contact Andy Philpot at bearcatpromos@gmail.com The programs will be designed and printed by the end of spring break, with the selling of programs at Mena home baseball, softball, and soccer games starting the week after spring break.

The Mena FFA Forestry Team competed recently in several events. At the Mine Creek forestry event in Nashville, Arkansas where they placed in the top 15 At the Logan County Invitational Career Development Events Nursery landscape placed 1st! Meats placed 3rd! Livestock placed 12th! Forestry and electricity placed 7th! At the Center Point Invitational Career Developments Events Vet science placed in the top 15! Livestock placed in the top 15! Electricity placed 7th! Meats placed 1st! Mechanics placed in the top 15! Forestry placed 12th! Next week our Career Development Event teams will be participating in Southern District FFA CDEs event at Southern Arkansas University on Tuesday! This will be a state qualifying event. 

The Mena Jr. High Track Teams competed at the Cub Relays in DeQueen on Tuesday. The Bearcats earned a hard fought 14-12 win over Hope Tuesday at Union Bank Park. Mena improves to 5-1 on the young season & will play at Lake Hamilton on Thursday.. GO BEARCATS!

The Ladycats bested Hope by a score of 12-2 in 5 innings at Union Bank Park on Tuesday. Mena is now 3-1 on the year & will be back in action on Thursday 3/12 when they play at Dierks. GO LADYCATS!!

Bearcat Announcements Wednesday, March 11, 2020 Lunch Menu: Club Activities Tuesday, March 10, & Thursday, March 12, EAST Conference Presentation Team will meet at Middle School EAST Room Wednesday, March 11, FFA Meeting in the Ag Building during Enrichment for all FFA members in the workday auction. Wednesday, March 11, Sci-Fi Club Meeting in the Art Room during Enrichment Sports Activities Softball and Baseball will both play after school today as they play Hope here at home Tomorrow afternoon will be Spring Sports Picture Day with Lifetouch and Mr. Philpot. Team and individual player photos will be taken for all spring sports teams, with the option of purchasing photos from Lifetouch. These photos will be used for the yearbook, as well as the spring sports souvenir program. FFA Workday Auction will be Monday March 16 at the HS Cafeteria @ 6:30 PM. FFA members who are in the auction should be there by 6:00 pm. HUB Program Applications are still available in Mrs. Buckley's office. If you are interested in the HUB program for 2020-2021, you are welcome to pick up an application in the office. Any student or group of students interested in auditioning for one of the talent acts in the Lip Sync Variety Show needs to talk to Ms. Taylor before Spring Break. We are looking for dance acts, gymnastics acts, instrumental performances, vocal performances, comedy routines, and other entertaining talents. See Ms. Taylor and get signed up today!!! Theatre I classes will be performing two short one act plays, The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza and The Entire American Revolution, this weekend on Saturday @ 7:30 pm and Sunday @ 2:30 pm. Announcements for Tuesday, March 10th Anyone on the Jr High Track Team will be meeting with Coach Dover and Coach Peters in the gym right after these announcements. Reminders: The EAST Presentation Team will meet today and Thursday in the EAST room after the announcements. 6th grade ETS students will be meeting tomorrow during ACHIEVE and 7th grade ETS will be meeting next Monday. Magic Springs money and permission slips are due Friday. Friday is the end of the 3rd grading quarter. Spring pictures will take place one week from Thursday, March 19th. There are extra picture forms in the front office. These pictures are voluntary.
