Mena students attended the Arkansas State FFA convention earlier this week: Parliamentary procedure 1st in Southen District and 4th in state..Team members are: Madison Blair, Halie Standerfer, Hannah McDonald, Ivy Curtis, Cooper Anderle,Cooper Hughes, and Cori Hilton 9th Grade Jr. Parliamentary Procedure team placed 5th in Southern District... Team members are: Austin Rose, Breezy Hendrix, Taylor Thacker, Allison Bates, Navya Morris, Drey Ozanich, Cassidy Ashcraft, and Jadelynn Goodner 9th Grade FFA Creed Speaker Allison Bates placed 7th in Southern District Prepared Speaker Ivy Curtis placed 7th in Southern District Mikala Evans received her State FFA Degree (this is the highest degree an FFA member can earn on the state level) Halie Standerfer received a $1,000 Farm Credit of Western Arkansas scholarship.
EAST students received a special invitation to the Mena Chamber of Commerce Banquet. They presented to a room full of adults approximately 300! I'm so proud and continually moved by their kindness, motivation, and work ethic. They motivate me! — with East Mena Mms.

MHS April 24th, 2019 Softball and baseball will have a game here today against Nashville. Sci-Fi Club will have a meeting in the Art Room today during Enrichment. Sci-Fi Club officer Applications for next year are due today by the end of school. Students if you are going to do an act in the Lip Sync this year, applications and money are due by this Friday. The food drive for the Arvest Million Meals Campaign ends next Tuesday, April 30. Please bring canned food items to your enrichment teacher. The class with the most donations will earn a pizza party. We will have the annual free physicals on Tuesday, May 14. All coaches will hand out the physical forms. Ladycats will be at 5:30 PM in the UBC and Bearcats will follow. This is the only opportunity to provide free physicals. Seniors, several students have not accepted their Arkansas Challenge scholarships. Check and see if you are pending acceptance. Seniors remember that all fines and lunch balances need to be paid by May 10th. FBLA officer applications for the 2019-2020 school year are now available in Mrs. Lindsey's and Mrs. Torix's rooms for any FBLA member who would like to be an officer next year. They are due Friday. Students since it is turkey season make sure you do not bring any rifles to school in your vehicle. If a gun is found in your vehicle, it is required by law to look and it is a 365 day expulsion. All cap and gowns that have been ordered and not paid for are in the office. Herf Jones is accepting cash only or you can pay on-line. Mr. Breedlove will be taking orders for Senior Bricks. The cost is $20 per brick or $10 to share a brick with another person. Bricks must be paid for in advance. Students you must scan your ID cards at lunch. Do not get extras unless you have money in your account.
