Students you must get a juice and/or fruit at breakfast. Students, please remember, you have to have money in your account to buy extras. Do not get extras unless you pay for it first. Students are not to be in the hallways during Lunch A or Lunch B. The library, cafeteria, or patio are available areas during lunch. Fourteen choir students earned positions in the Region 3 All Region Honors Choirs. Those students are: Misael Knight, Kendall Posey, Gabe Betz--Mixed Choir; Cassidy Ashcraft, Miranda Burt, Hope Egger, Christina Gragg, Cloey Massey, Zoe McPherson, Ali Ogden, Nalu Pruitt--Women's Choir; Jack Hunter, Devon Davis, Anthony Martinez--Men's Choir. Ethan Scott earned first alternate and Sierra Taylor earned 5th alternate. Congratulations to all!! The yearbook staff is gathering your senior quotes for the 2020 Yearbook, so please have your quotes submitted on this form by Friday, October 18. The 2019 SAU Creative Writing Festival will be on Friday, November 8, and Mr. Philpot will be taking a group of students to this event this year. The deadline to submit an entry for the judged competition will be Wednesday, October 23. The trip is open Creative Writing and NEHS students. See Mr. Philpot for information and to express interest in attending. AE will be hosting a food drive for God’s Feeding Hands Ministry October 14-November 15. If your Enrichment class elects to participate, please bring a canned good to your Enrichment class. The class that donates the most, will receive a pizza party provided by AE. FBLA members who want to attend Leadership Day at the State Fair need to see Mrs. Lindsey or Mrs. Torix for a permission slip and to sign up. Girls can sign up for a Powder Puff Football Tournament in Ms.Hobson’s room. Each class will have a team and compete against each other on November 4th. The cost is $3 to play and all proceeds go to Relay for Life. No Sci-Fi Club this week Independent Living Class will have a Bake Sale on Friday -- Cake Balls and Brownies --- Come support our athletes and enjoy a treat before the 3 day weekend!!! The Mena Realtors will be having a fundraiser for Special Olympics on Saturday from 10-2 at Atwoods!!! Hot dogs and drinks...There will also be Special Olympic Shirts for $5.00 each… Art Club will be this Friday in the Art Room (Rm 404), please pay your dues as soon as possible to attend.

Mena Jr Volleyball played at Mansfield on Monday. The 7th grade won 2 to 0, the Jr JV lost 0-2 & the Jr varsity won 2 to 0. The Jr High Ladycats will play at Arkadelphia Tuesday 10/15 at 4pm. Go Ladycats!

Three members of the Mena tennis team competed in the state tournament at Clarksville Monday. Will Davis lost to Heath Hickles from Pottsville 2-6,0-6 and Stephanie Lua and Marissa Ortiz lost to Heshmat and Tan from Pulaski Academy 1-6,2-6 .

The band, drumline, and drumline received a 1st division superior rating and the colorguard received a 2nd division excellent rating. Esmerelda Johnson was picked as the outstanding soloist in class 4A. The Mena Basscats competed on Lake Hamilton Sunday. Carson Cannon & Austin Johnston finished 5th with 5 fish weighing 9.46 pounds. Brendon Catlett & Jarrett Burger finished in 19th. GO BASSCATS!

Twenty-one Mena high school choir students traveled to Lakeside HS for Region 3 all region honors choir auditions on Saturday, October 12. We returned to Mena with fourteen all region honors choir members and 3 all state qualifiers!!!! The Bearcat Marching Band competed in the Arkansas Showcase of Bands Saturday in Little Rock. Esmerelda Johnson won Outstanding Soloist for Class 4A Overall Band Rating: 1st Division Drum Major Faith Chaney: 1st Division Percussion: 1st Division Color Guard: 2nd Division GO BEARCAT BAND!

The Mena Ladycats finished as runner-up in the Paris Lady Eagle Invitational Saturday. They defeated Booneville, Pulaski Academy, Southside Batesville, Greene County Tech & Fountain Lake before falling to Paris in the finals. Mena will play at Arkadelphia on Tuesday 10/15. GO LADYCATS!

Mena wins 43-13 & improve their record to 4-2 on the year, 1-2 in conference play. The Bearcats will play next at Elkins on Friday, October 18th at 7pm. Go Bearcats!

Parent Teacher Conference will be on Tuesday, October 15th at Holly Harshman Elementary from 3:30-9:00pm.. Parent Teacher Conference will be on Thursday, October 17th at Louise Durham Elementary. The time will be 3:30-8:30pm with a supper break for staff from 5:30-6:10pm. See you there!!!

Congratulations to Marissa Ortiz, Will Davis & Stephanie Lua. They have qualified for the AAAA State Tennis Tournament which will be begin on Monday 10/14 at 10:00am. It is being hosted by Clarksville High School at The University of the Ozarks. GO BEARCATS!!!!

The Book Fair will officially open for sales Monday 10/14 at Louise Durham Elementary!

A volleyball match has been added to the schedule for Monday 10/14 at Mansfield. 7th, Jr. JV, and Jr. Varsity starting at 4:30pm. GO LADYCATS!

The Jr. Bearcats played Dover Thursday night. The Dover 7th grade team beat Mena 18-8. The Jr. High contest ended in a 6-6 tie when play ended due to approaching storms & lightning.

The Ladycats played Bauxite Thursday at the UBC. The Jr. High won 2-0. The Senior JV won 2-0 & the Sr. Ladycats won 3-0.. Mena will play in a tournament at Paris this Saturday!
