Students, if you need to use the office phone to call home, you are allowed to do this between classes or during lunch. Do not ask your teacher to let you leave class to use the phone. If you are not feeling well, you need to see Nurse Sherry before you come to the office.
Any student that needs a new ID card can come to the office to put your name on a list. Do this either between classes, during ACHIEVE, or at lunch. The first ID card is free. All future replacement ID cards will come with a $3 fee.
From Mrs. Sikes: This Friday is the deadline for 7th and 8th grade FBLA students to pay their dues and conference fees.
From Mrs. Moore: 7th grade GT students will meet tomorrow and 8th grade on Thursday. The new meeting place for GT will be in our Conference room, which is next to Mrs. Rose’s office.
From Mrs. Rose: Bearcats Against Destructive Decisions (BADD) is a student led leadership club. Any MMS students can be a part of BADD. To be a part of BADD you are committing to making good choices at school, home and in the community. BADD members plan Red Ribbon Week, The Great Kindness Challenge, campus and community clean ups among other things like having fun! Anyone interested in joining BADD is invited to meet in Mrs. Rose's office on Friday September 6, during Achieve after announcements.
Students, when using your devices in the mornings or at lunch, here are a few reminders:
Do not take or use someone else’s device
No photos or videos are to be taken
As per policy, if a teacher suspects that there is a problem, they are allowed to look at your recent activities on your device.
You bring your device at your own risk. The school is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged phones or devices.
Reminder to Lunch “B” – no food or drinks outside today or tomorrow.
Lunchtime Weather: Due to the weather, you will still be allowed to go outside but you must stay on the paved or concrete surfaces. Do not go into the grass.

The Mena Jr. Ladycats faced Fort Smith Ramsey at the Union Bank Center Monday night.. The Jr. JV lost 2 games to 1.. 25-13, 20-25 & 8-15.. The Jr. High Won their match 2 games to 0.. 25-17 & 2520. The Jr & Sr, High will play at Paris Tuesday at 4pm.. GO LADYCATS!!!

Mena Golf finishes 3rd @ Nashville! They will play again on Thursday the 29th @ Degray in Arkadelphia..GO BEARCATS!


Announcements for Monday, August 26th
Reminder to GT Students: Starting this week, Mrs. Moore will be meeting with 6th grade GT students today after the announcements, 7th grade on Wednesdays, and 8th grade on Thursdays.
In case you were not aware, Labor Day is one week from today and there will be no school.
Due to the number of Gatorade bottles, chip bags, paper plates, etc, that was left on the ground during Lunch “B” on Friday, students in Lunch “B” are not allowed to take any food, snacks, or drinks outside today, tomorrow, and Wednesday. Keep all food and drinks in the cafeteria for these three days. This ban does not apply to students in Lunch “A.”
If you turned in $40 this morning for your lunch account, please come to the office because your number was written down incorrectly and we want to make sure and apply it to the correct student account.

The Mena Basscats will have the annual meeting to start the new tournament season Thursday(29th) at 6:30pm in the Mena Middle School Library. Parents of students that would like to join need to attend this meeting. If you have any questions contact Coach Rose at 234-0771.

Students wanting to have their names placed on a ballot for Student Council must pick up paperwork from Mrs. Gordon in room 300 and return it with a parent signature TODAY.

The Mena Golf Team finished 2nd behind Fountain Lake at Hot Springs on Thursday. Bearcat Austin Johnston was once again the medalist shooting a 39... Mena will return to action on Monday, August 26th in Nashville at 3:30pm.. GO BEARCATS!


The Mena Ladycats played a benefit game at Van Buren Thursday night. The Varsity lost 2-1 & the Jv split 1-1. Mena opens the season on August 27th at Paris. Go Ladycats!


The Mena Cross country program is growing & preparations are in full swing for the first meet on September 10th at the Mena Lions Club Bucks Invitational!
