Project Lead The Way, Design and Modeling students took a field trip to Brodix Wednesday. Students had the opportunity to see how all the skills they have been learning are applied in real world local careers! Project Lead The Way is a set of courses that are new to Mena Middle School this year! Offering four courses in total. The other courses offered are Automation & Robotics, Flight & Space, and Medical Detectives. A huge thank you to Brodix for hosting us and giving an informative and interesting tour!

The 2023 Mena High School Homecoming Queen was crowned on Friday night at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. The Maid of Honor was Holiday Neufeld and the Queen is Sophia Vacca. Holiday Neufeld is the daughter of Jeff and Jerusha Neufeld. Holiday is in NHS, the treasurer of NEHS and has earned her academic letter and second academic bar. Holiday is the elected President of the Spotlight Singers, a vocalist in Jazz Band, and has been chosen as the lead female role in this year's school musical, Newsies. She has also had the privilege of representing Mena High School as a four time All Region Choir member and a 2023 All-State Choir member. Holiday has also competed and won the Mena High School talent show two years in a row. After high school, Holiday plans to attend college and major in music education while continuing to sing in choir at the college level. Sophia Vacca is the daughter of Scott and Ashley Vacca. Sophia is President of NEHS, President of NHS, Co-Editor of the Yearbook Staff, and the elected Vice President of Student Council. She has received her academic letter and second academic bar. Sophia is on the Varsity Sideline and Competition Cheer Team and Varsity soccer team. She received an All-State nomination in Soccer last year. Sophia is a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and serves on the Catholic Youth Advisory Council. After high school, she plans to attend the University of Dallas and major in Psychology.
