Ashley Curbow, Coordinator for the Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program, is presenting on the dangers of tobacco use and vaping to 7th graders at Mena Middle School. MMS 8th graders will receive the presentation on Wednesday.

Austin Rose and Jarret Burger won the Arkansas Young Guns Open Tournament on Lake Ouachita Saturday with a string weighing 12.38 pounds. They also had the big bass that weighed in at 3.28 pounds!

Congratulations to Mrs. Lana Coogan & the Mena High School Bearcat Bellas! The Bellas made a Division I Superior rating at CPA on Friday in Hot Springs. They will be competing at the State Competition on Tuesday, April 5th!

The 2/28-3/6 Player of the Week was CALEB PETERS.
Caleb pitched well in the Smithville win and picked up the save. Peters also hit .500 on the week with 6 runs scored and 5 RBI’s
The Player of the Week for 3/7-3/11 is BLAKE BROWN. Blake came in relief in a tied game with Hope and pitched 4 innings giving up 0 runs while striking out 8 batters. Blake was also 2/4 at the plate with 2 RBI’s in the 7-2 Hope victory
The player of the week for 3/14-3/18 will be announced after spring break.

Mena Middle School 8th graders attended Career Day at the University or Arkansas Rich Mountain on Friday.

Thank you to the Natural Resources Conservation Service for talking with our 4th graders about the importance of trees. They provided every 4th grader with their very own pine tree to plant!

AUSTIN ROSE & JARRETT BURGER won the Arkansas Youth Federation Bass Tournament at Lake Ouachita on Sunday. The tournament was an MLF national qualifier'. The team took first by over 4 lbs & also claimed the prize for big bass.

Mr. Jacob Turner, with the Arkansas Department of Transportation, talked to 5th grade students at Holly Harshman Elementary today about using drones to inspect bridges. Thank you Mr. Turner !!!

MHS Senior Parents:
The Arkansas Challenge Scholarship will be available to all seniors who have completed their FAFSA application and have a minimum ACT superscore score of 19. The ACCUPLACER is an acceptable equivalent test. The ACCUPLACER will be administered free of charge to interested seniors on March 29th at 8 am in MHS Room 202. Seniors must sign up using the form sent to their email from Mrs. Lyle by March 17th.
