UAMS, in conjunction with UA Rich Mountain and Healthy Connections is hosting a Hands-on Healthcare event on Monday, April 6th, at the Ouachita Center at UARM! We will have a variety of speakers from different fields and several fun and engaging hands-on activities. Applications are due Friday, March 20th . Students may apply online at the link below.

MASH Camp will be held June 15 through June 26 this year.
The deadline for applications will be by the end of the day on April 6, 2020. MASH (Medical Applications of Science for Health) it is a FREE two-week summer enrichment program for high school students interested in pursuing a medical career.
Mena Regional – June 15th – June 26th Current 10th and 11th graders may apply.
During the two weeks, students will take part in some of the following activities:
*Receive CPR training and certification
*Learn through hands on activities directed by physicians and medical staff
*Shadow seven departments in a local medical facilities including surgery and the ER
*Receive education about personal choices such as nutrition, alcohol and drug abuse, as well as other health topics and job choices from experts in a variety of healthcare fields
*Tour a medical school campus
Much, much more!
This camp is provided FREE of charge to these students thanks to the generous support of Farm Bureau, Baptist Health, Mercy Hospital, Mena Regional Medical Center, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Conway Regional Health Systems, Johnson Regional Medical Center, UAMS West, HRSA, and partnerships with area healthcare organizations.


Mena softball will play their season opener on Friday, March 6th, in the Ashdown Invitational Tournament. The Ladycats will play Avery TX at 7pm... GO LADYCATS!

The medical professional program will not be having class today.
All FFA Members who are competing in the Wildhog Invitational CDE’s Saturday, February 29, will be leaving the Ag. Building @ 5 a.m. Saturday. Teams that will be going are: Nursery/Landscape, Forestry and Vet Science.
Livestock Team will be leaving @ 12, Noon on Friday from the Ag Building.
Tuesday (March 3rd) we are having a Blood drive. Please come see Nurse Bobbi if you would like to sign up.
HUB Program Applications are available in Mrs. Buckley's office. If you are interested in the HUB program for 2020-2021, you are welcome to pick up an application in the office.
JAG Work Applications (upcoming juniors and seniors) are available for next year's JAG Work class. If you missed the priority deadline to turn in your application last Friday, see Mrs. Purvis in room 403 for more information.
If you did not order your 2020 Yearbook yet, this week will be your last chance to place an order before all final orders are submitted for printing on Friday. Yearbooks are $60, and can be ordered with cash or check. See Mr. Philpot in room 205 for more information or to place your last chance order.
Juniors will go to a college fair at UARM on Thursday from 10:00-11:15.

Mena opened the 2020 baseball season with a 13-6 win at Mt. Ida Tuesday. The Bearcats are back in action on Monday, March 2nd at Waldron. GO BEARCATS!

The Mena FFA participated in the Ouachita Sub-Area Leadership Events on Monday.
The Parliamentary Procedure Team placed first. Team members are Cooper Anderle, Madison Blair, Brendon Catlett, Ivy Curtis, Lexi Dilbeck, Bethany Godwin & Navya Morris.
The Jr. Parliamentary Team place second. Team members are Cierra Dulaney, Aaron Ferguson, William Hendrix, Aslynn Jackson, Ranessa Ricker, Layla Spenser & Mckenzie Vincent.
Breezy Hendrix finished 2nd in prepared speaking & Brandon Catlett was 1st in the Farm Bureau Discussion Meet.
All of these teams and Individuals have qualified and will represent Mena High School in the District and State Leadership Development Events held at the Hot Springs Convention Center during the State FFA Convention in April.

March 3rd Blood drive.
The blood drive is open to all Mena High School students and staff. It will be in the Bearcat room in the gym. All 16yr olds must have a Parent signature and weigh at least 110lbs. 18 yrs old and older must weigh 125lbs. Students should by sign up in the high school nurse's office. All donors must have a picture ID the day of blood drive. International Exchange Students or anyone who has lived out of country for more than 5 years are not eligible to give blood.


Spring Break at Mena Public Schools will be March 23rd - 27th.

There will be a college fair on Thursday, 2/27 from 10am-11:15am at UA Rich Mountain for Mena High School Juniors. Juniors should bring questions for the college you might want to attend!
