The Mena Public Schools are pleased to be hosting the Area 14 Special Olympics at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium!

From Computers to the Trails — A Journey of Creativity After conquering the NYX NoCode Hackathon, these Mena students took their victory to the great outdoors, joined by Sam and Lucas of Beeline MTB, Karen Kilroy of NyxNoCode, and Doug, Kenny, and Joe from the Matthew Mark Foundation. Beeline gifted the bikes to these students for more future fun on the trails! We also thank the Walmart Foundation for helping dreams ride even farther!

Mena Jr. High Track competed in the 4-4A Conference Meet on Monday in Clarksville. For the Ladycats Skylar Bahr won the Triple Jump & Long Jump. Brynlee Bahr won the Pole Vault. MMS Prevent Team is hosted the Prevention Easter Egg Relay. The 6th, 7th and 8th grade competed.

The following Mena Middle School students finally received their FBLA District I plaques and certificates on Wednesday for placing 1st place in their district competitions. Super proud of these guys! Mena Middle Schhol FBLA attended the State Leadership Conference on Wednesday. Francesca Vacca competed in the FBLA Concepts competition. She placed 4th overall in the state and qualified to compete at Nationals this summer in Anaheim, California.

We Read Wednesday 📚 The Mena library media specialists hosted a literacy professional development for all of the media specialists in the Dequeen-Mena Co-Op. Librarians are the heart of schools that promote literacy and reading. We ❤️ reading!

Skylar Bahr finished high point for the girls and Bentley Brewer finished high point for the boys at the Waldron 7th Grade Relays on Tuesday. On Friday, Mena Middle School participated in the UARM Science Fair. Our students had a wonderful time interacting with area participants, judges, and members of the community about their science projects. Thank you UARM for hosting this event. Eight female scholars from Mena Middle School attended the Girls of Promise STEAM conference Friday, April 4th. These young ladies had the opportunity to network with other young STEAM scholars, meet Professional Women in STEAM fields, experiment and create in workshops and enjoy all the Arkansas 4-H Center has to offer. Students in attendance were Avery Cox, Roxanne Ezell, Kenley Cochran, Linda Maechler, Brandi Miller, Kinley Cox, Haidyn Valdovinos, and Raelyn Ashcraft. Teacher chaperones were CTE Teachers; Sarah Billings and Lauren Frost.

Family Fun Science Night was Tuesday at Mena Middle School!

Congratulations to the Mena Middle School Band! Tuesday they traveled to Vanburen to participate in the Region 8 Concert & Sightreading Assessment. The band scored a second division excellent rating from all Concert judges and a first division superior rating in Sightreading. Great job Mr. Huffman and the middle school band

The Mena 7th Grade Ladycats and Bearcats competed at the Booneville Relays on Monday. The Ladycats won the the meet and Skylar Bahr took home the High Point Award! Bahr won the 100 yard dash, the 200 yard dash, the 400 yard dash, pole vault, long jump and triple jump. For the Bearcats Bentley Brewer won the 100 yard dash and the long jump. We Read Wednesday: Levi is a frequent visitor in our library. He is a reader! He enjoys science fiction and his favorite book is The Big Book of Monsters by Hal Johnson. This is a nonfiction book with information about movie/classic book monsters. We love that our students have a variety of interests!

We Read Wednesday: Mrs Rose, our school counselor, is a reader! She loves self help books and is currently interested in books and magazines about homesteading and growing flowers. Magazines are a great type of reading that can help you learn all kinds of information.
