
We Read Wednesday: Levi is a frequent visitor in our library. He is a reader! He enjoys science fiction and his favorite book is The Big Book of Monsters by Hal Johnson. This is a nonfiction book with information about movie/classic book monsters. We love that our students have a variety of interests!

We Read Wednesday: Mrs Rose, our school counselor, is a reader! She loves self help books and is currently interested in books and magazines about homesteading and growing flowers. Magazines are a great type of reading that can help you learn all kinds of information.

We Read Wednesday: Ms. Shores is our Behavior Interventionist and she loves to read. She is enjoying some nonfiction professional books right now that help her with her job. That is an amazing type of reading! She also loves to read romance and mystery novels.

Mena Middle School students competed in the DeQueen Mena Educational Cooperatives Capture The Flag Cybersecurity Event on Thursday. Middle school’s Max Free, William Kilpatrick, Dane Palmer and Zach Horn won 3rd.


Mena Middle School FCCLA, FBLA, Yearbook Staff and Project Prevent Team students spent the day volunteering to ring the bell for the Salvation Army.

MMS FBLA, Project Lead The Way and Programming 1 students took a field trip to the Arkansas Air and Military Museum in Greenland, AR Tuesday, November 19. Students were given a tour, explored a real C130, climbed a working air traffic control tower, and learned all about the many careers in the field of aviation both civilian and military. Some of the careers they learned about were pilot (commercial, cargo private, military), mechanic, air traffic control, engineering, drone piloting and other aviation technologies. Thank you to Laci and all the staff and speakers @aamm and to Coach Fryar for driving the bus to get us there!


The 7th Grade Bearcats played their final game of the season on Thursday at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. Mena lost in overtime.

MMS Project Prevent Team is working hard to complete our Thankful activity for November. The team is challenging their peers to pledge to be vape/nicotine free and to share what they are thankful for. The project will be a tree display with all MMS students represented on the leaves. The display will be ready for the family Thanksgiving lunch Wednesday, November 13!

Meet Brady! He is a 7th grader who visits the library quite often. He really loves fantasy and his favorite series is Wings of Fire. Brady is also creating a reading fair project to compete against other schools. We love to see our students find a love of reading!
