Mena Middle School

A group of Mena faculty are attending the Arkansas School Behavior Conference in Benton today.

I am from Mountain Home, AR and graduated from Arkansas Tech University with my Bachelor’s in Agriculture Education. I am beyond excited to create a positive and engaging learning environment. I just recently moved to Mena and love everything about it so far! I also cannot wait to hike Queen Wilhelmina.

New employee orientation was held on Wednesday in the Mena High School Library. The district wide open house is Thursday, August 7th. The first day of school is Wednesday, August 13th.

Hi, I’m Amy Montgomery, Assistant Principal at Mena
Middle School. With 24 years of experience in education,
I’ve had the privilege of serving as a classroom teacher,
instructional facilitator, curriculum director, Mena High
School assistant principal/AE director, and novice
teacher mentor. I’m a proud mom of two, Luke, a 2022
MHS graduate, and Avery, a rising junior at MHS. I’m
excited to join the Mena Middle School community and
look forward to serving our students, staff, and families.

Mena School Counselors are attending the Arkansas School Counselors Association Conference this week at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

The Jr. Ladycats spent Monday and Tuesday at the Morrilton Team Basketball Camp.

Welcome Leilani Day to the team at Mena Middle and Mena High School. I am so excited to be back home and have the opportunity to coach the sport I enjoy so much as well as teach the subject that made me want to become a teacher. I am excited for the school year and all the new beginnings it will bring.

Mena Public School Administrators have been attending the Leadership Institute hosted by the DeQueen Mena Education Service Cooperative at Degray Lake State Park this week. The Jr. Ladycats attended the Harding Team Basketball Camp on Sunday and Monday. The Jr. Ladycats will attend the Morrilton Team Camp on Monday, June 16th and Tuesday, June 17th.

The Mena Jr. High Cheer Team is preparing for the 2025-2026 season. The group attended the Varsity Stunt Clinic in Hot Springs on Monday.

Mena coaches & players helped area youngsters improve their basketball skills this week at the Little Cats Camp in the Union Bank Center. A busy week is ahead for the Bearcat basketball team beginning at the Southeast Oklahoma State Team Camp and followed by the NWA Shootout.

The Jr. Bearcats competed in the Greenwood Team Camp on Monday. The team will be at the Charleston Team Camp on June 11th.

The Little Ladycats Basketball Camp came to close on Wednesday. Thanks to all who attended and the parents for bringing them to the camp. We had a great time and learned a lot from each other.

The Class of 2025 participated in the Senior Walk at all four Mena campuses on Tuesday..

80 Mena Middle School students recently earned their Arkansas Hunters Education Certification. 53 scored between a 90-100 and 7 made perfect score. Thank you Coach Rose for teaching the course.

The Mena Public Schools are pleased to be hosting the Area 14 Special Olympics at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium!

From Computers to the Trails — A Journey of Creativity After conquering the NYX NoCode Hackathon, these Mena students took their victory to the great outdoors, joined by Sam and Lucas of Beeline MTB, Karen Kilroy of NyxNoCode, and Doug, Kenny, and Joe from the Matthew Mark Foundation. Beeline gifted the bikes to these students for more future fun on the trails! We also thank the Walmart Foundation for helping dreams ride even farther!

Mena Jr. High Track competed in the 4-4A Conference Meet on Monday in Clarksville. For the Ladycats Skylar Bahr won the Triple Jump & Long Jump. Brynlee Bahr won the Pole Vault.
