The Mena Jr. & Sr. Ladycats will play Foreman on Tuesday at the Union Bank Center.


Sheli Chaney's classes at Mena Middle School participated in a book tasting on Monday. Students tried out different books to decide which they would like to read. They each read a brief part of the books and book reviews to see if it was something they would be interested in.

The 5th & 6th grade teams from Holly Harshman Elementary & Mena Middle School competed in the Polk County Quiz Bowl on Thursday at UA Rich Mountain. Team A placed 2nd, and Team B placed 4th. Mena Team A will travel to the Dequeen Mena Educational Service Cooperative on January 21st for the Elementary Quiz Bowl Final.


The Mena Basscats were in action this past weekend. Austin Rose and Jarrett Burger(Sr Div), Waylon Head and Braxton Philpot(Jr Div) competed in the Arkansas Young Guns tournament Saturday on Lake Hamilton. Rose and Burger took 5th place. On Sunday the Basscats competed in the Arkansas Youth Fishing Federation Tournament held on Lake Degray. Rose and Burger placed 3rd in the High School division. The Basscats will be back in action at Lake Dardanelle on Saturday November 27th.


Friday was the last day of Red Ribbon Week at Mena Middle School & everyone caught the wave to be drug free !


Laura Taylor and Stephanie Bell from the state Project Prevent Leadership Team were at Mena Middle School on Friday spreading the be tobacco free message to students.
MMS students took advantage of the opportunity to pledge to be tobacco/nicotine free. There were 188 pledges made. Red Ribbon Week 2021 was a big success at MMS!


Red Ribbon Week fun peaked on Thursday at Mena Middle School. The theme was "Drug Free in the Country". Students & staff broke out the western wear. We will continue to encourage our students to stay drug free on Friday with Beach/ Hawaiian attire for "Catch the Wave to be Drug Free" !


Red Ribbon Week continued on Wednesday at Mena MIddle School with Tie Dye/Hippie attire. We continue to encourage students to be drug free on Thursday when the theme is "Drug Free in the Country".


Mena Middle School Project Prevent Team and Pony Express Printing of Mena sponsored Red Ribbon Week bookmarks for all MMS students. The message to students is vaping is a trick not a treat!

The Jr. Bearcats had a tough time finding the end zone on Thursday at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. Dardanelle won the game by a score of 6-29. The Jr. Bearcats finished the season with a record of 5-4..

The Mena 7th Grade Bearcats mounted a furious come back in the second half on Thursday but came up a little short. Dardanelle won the game by a score of 22-24. The 7th grade finishes the season with a 5-3 record.

The first Jr. High Pep Rally was held today at Jim Rackley Gymnasium & the 6th grade won the spirit stick !!!! GO BEARCATS!!!


National School Bus Safety Week was the result of a letter-writing campaign to President Nixon in 1969. Founded by Dick Fischer, a former school district transportation director in California, the first NSBSW was held in 1970. In 1975, the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) was founded. The NAPT, along with the National School Transportation Association (NSTA) and National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services (NASDPT), hosts National Bus Safety Week each year.

The Jr. Ladycats won the 4A West District Tournament Championship on Saturday in Bauxite. Mena defeated Fountain Lake 25-7 / 25-19 & Malvern in the finals 25-22 / 25-11.

The Mena Jr. Ladycats are conference champs & the #1 seed in the district tournament. Their first game is at 11:00am on Saturday at Bauxite against the winner of the Arkadelphia/Ft. Lake game.
