Mena 7th Grade Volleyball played Paris in a number of ten minute scrimmages on Monday at the Union Bank Center. The 7th grade is scheduled to play next on 9/27 at Waldron. GO LADYCATS!!!

MMS ANNOUNCEMENTS Monday, September 20 th I. 6 th grade Quiz Bowl will have practice in the Conference Room right after these announcements. 7 th & 8 th grade will have practice tomorrow. II. Several of you are still coming to school with a Chromebook that has not been charged. Please charge them overnight at home. I II. From Mrs. Rose: The Project Prevent Team will meet in Mrs. Rose's office tomorrow during Achieve. IV. Homecoming Week Events:  Tomorrow’s dress-up theme is “Groovy Tuesday,” dress up in 70’s disco style  Homecoming Parade is Wednesday at 5:30 on Mena Street, followed by the Powder- Puff football game at Bearcat Stadium – cost is $2.00 for the game.  Friday: We will attend the Homecoming Pep Rally at Bearcat Stadium, during Achieve.  Friday Evening: Homecoming ceremony at 6:30, followed by the Homecoming football game between the Bearcats and the Waldron Bulldogs. V. Picture day is one week from tomorrow. Even if you do not plan to purchase pictures, everyone will have their picture taken so that we will have a photo for the yearbook and for updated school ID cards. Order forms were given out last week but we have a few extra in the front office. VI. Students, when you get the snack in the afternoon, you only need to get one. We purchase one snack per student. Mena Jr. High Football hosted Lamar at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium on Thursday. The Bearcats scored a touchdown with under two minutes to play but the extra point was blocked & Mena would lose by one 13-14. Mena will carry a 3-1 record into Waldron next Thursday.

The 7th Grade Bearcats picked up a big win 14-6 over Lamar on Thursday at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. With the win Mena improves to 3-0 on the season & will play on Thursday at Waldron. GO BEARCATS !!!!

MMS ANNOUNCEMENTS Thursday, September 16 th I. FFA officer applications are due to Mr. McCormick tomorrow. II. In the next few days, your mid-term grades and ACT Aspire scores from last year will be mailed to your home address. III. If you were absent yesterday, you can pick up a school picture order form from your ACHIEVE teacher. School pictures are Tuesday, September 28 th . IV. There are home football games at Bearcat Stadium tonight and tomorrow night. Remember to remain in the bleachers unless going to the concession stand or restrooms. V. Next week is Homecoming week for the Bearcats. There will be themed dress up days each day of the week. Look for the posters on the Library windows to see what the dress up themes are for each day. The Homecoming parade is scheduled for next Wednesday on Mena Street. We also plan to attend the Homecoming Pep Rally at Bearcat Stadium next Friday during ACHIEVE. VI. Lunchtime Weather: VII. Congratulations to JESSICA NICHOLSON & LAUREN GAGE who won prizes by registering at the Mena Public School booth at this year's Polk County Fair. Jessica won the cutting board from the Mena FFA and Lauren won the Washburn's Gift Certificate.

Mena High School will conduct parent-teacher conferences today by phone from 3: 30-6: 30pm. A phone call from each student's enrichment teacher should be expected. Mena Middle School will hold virtual conferences as well today. Parents should expect a call from the student's achieve teacher during conference hours, 3;30pm - 6:30pm.

Monday, September 13th Mena Volleyball played on the road at Booneville. The 7th grade Ladycats split their match. Mena Jr. JV won 2-1 by a score of 21-25, 25-23 & 15-8. The Jr. High Varsity won 2-0 by a score of 25-21 & 25-20. The Mena Sr. girls beat Booneville 3-0 by a score of 25-22, 25-17 & 26-24. Mena is back in action on Tuesday when they host Magnolia.

Mena Jr. Volleyball played in a tournament at Paris on Saturday. The Ladycats were 3-0 in pool play but lost 2-1 in the semi-finals of the gold bracket. The girls will be back in action on Monday at Booneville.
