MMS ANNOUNCEMENTS
Thursday, September 16 th
I. FFA officer applications are due to Mr. McCormick tomorrow.
II. In the next few days, your mid-term grades and ACT Aspire scores from last year will be mailed to your home address.
III. If you were absent yesterday, you can pick up a school picture order form from your ACHIEVE teacher. School pictures are Tuesday, September 28 th .
IV. There are home football games at Bearcat Stadium tonight and tomorrow night. Remember to remain in the bleachers unless going to the concession stand or restrooms.
V. Next week is Homecoming week for the Bearcats. There will be themed dress up days each day of the week. Look for the posters on the Library windows to see what the dress up themes are for each day. The Homecoming parade is scheduled for next Wednesday on Mena Street. We also plan to attend the Homecoming Pep Rally at Bearcat Stadium next Friday during ACHIEVE.

Congratulations to JESSICA NICHOLSON & LAUREN GAGE who won prizes by registering at the Mena Public School booth at this year's Polk County Fair. Jessica won the cutting board from the Mena FFA and Lauren won the Washburn's Gift Certificate.


Mena High School will conduct parent-teacher conferences today by phone from 3: 30-6: 30pm. A phone call from each student's enrichment teacher should be expected.
Mena Middle School will hold virtual conferences as well today. Parents should expect a call from the student's achieve teacher during conference hours, 3;30pm - 6:30pm.


Mena Jr. Volleyball defeated Magnolia 2-0 on Tuesday at the Union Bank Center. The score was 25-13 & 25-13.
The Ladycats are back in action on Thursday at Arkadelphia !

Tuesday, September 14 th
I. Quiz Bowl: Right after these announcements, the 7 th & 8 th grade Quiz Bowl team will have
practice in the Conference Room.
II. School Pictures: Picture day for MMS is two weeks from today (September 28). Even if you do not plan to purchase pictures, you will have your photo taken for things like the yearbook and updated school ID card.
III. Conferences: Parent / Teacher phone conferences will be tomorrow evening. Your mid-term grades and ACT Aspire scores will be mailed to your home address.
IV. FFA: FFA officer applications are available in Mr. McCormick's room. These will be due this Friday.
V. Internet Use: Just a reminder that our tech department is able to see all of your internet activity. They have recently received a couple of alerts on students conducting inappropriate searches. Use your device for school work only.
VI. Dance: We will have our MMS dance this evening. The dance will take place outside in the patio area.

Mena Volleyball played on the road at Booneville.
The 7th grade Ladycats split their match.
Mena Jr. JV won 2-1 by a score of 21-25, 25-23 & 15-8.
The Jr. High Varsity won 2-0 by a score of 25-21 & 25-20.
The Mena Sr. girls beat Booneville 3-0 by a score of 25-22, 25-17 & 26-24.
Mena is back in action on Tuesday when they host Magnolia.

Mena Jr. Volleyball played in a tournament at Paris on Saturday. The Ladycats were 3-0 in pool play but lost 2-1 in the semi-finals of the gold bracket.
The girls will be back in action on Monday at Booneville.


Mena Middle School Project Prevent Team members were busy today hanging posters for this year's Ready. Set. Record. competition. Ready. Set. Record is open to 7-12th grades. III. From Mrs. Rose: 7th and 8th grade Getting to Know You activity prize winners please stop by her office between classes to claim your prize. Mena Jr. Volleyball defeated Camden Fairview 2-0.
Bearcat 7th Grade Football defeated Clarksville 14-6.
Bearcat Jr. Football defeated Clarksville 28-16.
Mena Golf finished 2nd at the Malvern Country Club with a team score of 145. Cooper Plunket-47, Evan Leonard-49 & Alex Rocha-49.

Wednesday, September 8 th
I. Reminder: Parent / Teacher Conferences and your first mid-term grades are one week from today. Under our current situation, conferences will not be held on campus. Parents will be receiving a phone call from teachers that evening to discuss your progress and
grades.
II. MMS Dance: We plan to hold our dance next Tuesday evening (weather permitting). If you have a song request, write the song title and your name on a sheet of paper and turn it in to
Mrs. Rose this week.
III. From Mrs. Sikes: Reminder: Deadline to join FBLA and attend the Fall Leadership Conference is this Friday, September 10. All forms and money must be turned in to Mrs. Sikes by the end of the week.
IV. From Mrs. Sims: Quiz Bowl practice will begin next week during ACHIEVE. 6 th grade Quiz Bowl will practice on Mondays, 7 th / 8 th grade will practice on Tuesdays. Practice will take place in the Conference room next to Mrs. Rose’s office. On those days, stay in your ACHIEVE class until the end of announcements.
V. You have probably noticed that we are now offering a 2 nd chance breakfast between 1 st period and ACHIEVE. You do need to know that if you already had a school breakfast earlier in the morning, you will be charged for getting another one from the cart. The cart is located outside the front office.

Mena Cross Country will compete in their first meet of the season at the Tom Stuthard Stampede in Acorn starting at 3:30pm.
Jr. & Sr. Volleyball will host Malvern at the Union Bank Center beginning at 4:00pm.

I. Reminder: Monday is Labor Day and there will be no school.
II. Several of you have been taking off your shoes while outside at lunch. Do not take off your shoes. There is always a chance of stepping on an old nail, broken glass, or a stinging insect.
III. MMS Band Students: Beginning on Monday, you are not allowed to hang out in the Band Room in the mornings before school. You can still drop off your instrument but then you must leave the Band Room and either go to breakfast or go outside with the rest of the
students.
IV. From Mrs. Rose: The 6th grade Getting to Know You activity prize winners please stop by her office between classes to claim your prize. V. Tomorrow we will do a random drawing for a prize. The prize will be a free pass to all of the dances we hope to have this year. There will be one winner from each grade. To be eligible, you must have turned in all required paperwork, have missed no days of school,
and have had no discipline write-ups.
