Area florist are asked to make valentine deliveries on Friday, February 12th. No deliveries during other days of the week will be accepted. Times for delivery are listed below.

Tuesday, February 9 th
I. 7 th & 8 th grade Quiz Bowl will meet in the Conference Room right after these
announcements.
II. Any 7 th or 8 th grade boy that is interested in participating in track, will meet with Coach
Luttmer in the gym tomorrow during ACHIEVE.
III. From Mrs. Breedlove: Valentine's Day is coming up. Cheerleaders will be selling 'Crushes
for your crush, or your friends.' Crushes can be purchased at lunch for $1 and will be
passed out during 7th period on Friday.
IV. Students, due to our Wifi issues, make sure that the Wifi is turned OFF on you phones.
V. From Mrs. Rose: Prize winners from the Kindness Challenge Drawing are Rayleigh
Goodnight, Riya Desai, Zeke Kupper, William Higgens, Emmi Ownes, and John Gomez.
Stop by Mrs. Rose's office to claim your prize.
VI. Next Monday, February 15 th , will be a virtual learning day for students. You will not be
attending school that day.
VII. There is a small possibility of some wintery weather at the end of this week or early next
week. If there is wintery weather early in the morning before school, listen to the local radio
stations KENA 104.1 or KQOR 105.3 or look at the district’s Facebook pages for
information regarding school closing.
VIII. Lunchtime Weather: The forecast shows some frigid cold daytime temperatures arriving in
a couple of days. Dress appropriately.

There will be no classes at Mena Public Schools on Monday, February 15th.. This will be a virtual day for students.
Holly Harshman Elementary is scheduling Parent/Teacher Conferences for 2/15 from 8:30am-8:30pm. See an earlier post for details.
Mena High School will also be conducting CAP conferences for 8th-11th grade students on 2/15. CAP stands for Career Action Planning. The purpose is to assist students and parents in planning their schedule for 21/22.

III. If you think you might receive a Valentine delivery this Friday, make your parents aware
that state law does not allow inflated balloons on a school bus. If you have a balloon and
you ride a bus, it will be deflated before you get on your bus.
IV. There has been an increase is a couple of problem areas lately:
1) Cell phones – you are allowed to use your phones outside at breakfast, lunch, and after
school…nowhere else.
2) Bus behavior – Follow the bus rules and safety guidelines or you may be facing ISS or a
temporary bus suspension.
V. Lunchtime Weather: The forecast shows some frigid cold daytime temperatures arriving in
a couple of days. Dress appropriately.

Future Farmers of America State Officers , Kyleen Hewitt & Sarah Thomas, are at Mena High School today for the Chapter Leadership Conference. Mena FFA members & officers are learning leadership & teamwork skills while interacting in drills led by Hewitt & Thomas.

I. If you have signed up to try out for Jr High Cheer, you need to fill out the schedule and
application in the google classroom.
II. From Coach Goss: There will be a JR Girls (7th-9th grade) track meeting on Monday,
February 8th during ACHIEVE in the MMS gym.
III. Reminder: Students in Lunch “B”: Remember to walk down hallway “B” and circle around
by the band room to get into the lunch line.
IV. Students, If you are a car rider and arrive late and find that the entry doors to the 6 th grade
hall are locked, you will need to “buzz in” at the cafeteria entrance and come to the office
for a tardy slip.
V. Lunchtime Weather: We will go outside today if the rain holds off.
