
Announcements for Wednesday, September 9 th
I. There are still a small number of students who still need to turn in either part or all of their
required paperwork. Please get that turned in asap.
II. Safety Reminder: Unless you have been given special permission from the Principal, you
are not allowed to be dropped off at the front of the school in the mornings. Use the
designated car rider drop-off area.
III. Two bragging points!! You have all been doing a great job with the mask requirements and
taking care of your breakfast and lunch trash. Thank you all for stepping up and doing the
right thing!!
IV. One week from today, Wednesday, September 16 th , is mid-term for the 1 st grading quarter.
Mid-term grade reports will be given out. So, be sure to stay on top of your assignments
and check with your teachers if you have any missing work.
V. If you bring your own ball from home to use at lunch, please write your name on it in ink.

Virtual, blended, or non-enrolled students will have to sign up for meals every week. Meals may be picked up at Louise Durham or High School on Fridays between 1 and 2 pm. With our fall sports seasons underway, the creation of the 2020 Mena Fall Sports Souvenir Program has officially begun! The 7th & Jr High Ladycats will host Mansfield on Monday 9/14.. The Sr High will host Camden Fairview on Thursday 9/10. Thursday will be Sr Night.


Dear Parents,
We would like to thank you for participating in our virtual/blended meal service.
On Thursday Sept. 3, USDA announced that they were extending the waiver to feed using the Seamless Summer Option through Dec. 31, 2020. This means that all meals will be served for free to all children 18 and under.
We will still need you to fill out your free and reduced application for students. T

Announcements for Tuesday, September 8th
I. We hope everyone enjoyed their 3 day weekend. Please remember to follow all mask and social distancing guidelines. Also keep in mind that we have several hand sanitizer stations located throughout the building.
II. From Coach Rose: For any student interested in getting information about the Mena Basscats Fishing Team, there will be a virtual meeting tonight at 7pm. Use the link below to access the meeting. The beginning band parent meeting that was scheduled today at the Mena Middle School is cancelled. It will be rescheduled at a later date.


After consulting Polk County leaders about road conditions and seeing the rain forecast for tomorrow morning, Mena Public Schools is announcing that it will close tomorrow, September 2nd, for the safety of all students and employees. This will be an AMI day.


Mena students showed goats & sheep at the Polk County Livestock Show on Monday. Cattle will be on Wednesday & swine on Thursday at the Polk County Fairgrounds.

Due to dangerous water levels and the threat of more heavy rain, Mena Public Schools will be closing all schools and releasing students this morning at 8:30. All after school activities are cancelled, as well.
