Announcements for Tuesday, March 3rd Students that are going on the DC / NYC trip this summer need to give Mrs. Swall your t-shirt size today. From Mrs. Lunsford: 5th period EAST students will to Mrs. Carls' Room today. All other classes go to High School as usual. From Ms. Harrison: A poster will be hung next to the water fountains near the office. It is a pledge to spread inclusion of special needs students by doing various acts of kindness. Wednesdays will be considered Inclusion Wednesday however students should be mindful and take part in these acts everyday. Students are encouraged to go by the poster and sign to show their support for our Inclusion Wednesdays. The Mena 7th grade track team competed in a meet at Booneville on Monday. Here are the results: Cooper Plunkett 1st place in mile, 6th place in 800 meter, 5th place in 400 meter. Brody Peters 2nd place in 200 meter. Sean Sullivan 4th place in triple jump, 4th place in 200 meter Hunter Cannon 8th place in shot put. Dakota Vanfleet 5th place in 100 meter hurdles, 6th place in 300 meter hurdles. Jorden Davis 6th place in 300 meter hurdles. Announcements for Monday, March 2nd If you are going on the Washington, DC / NYC trip, please see Mrs. Swall and tell her your t-shirt size. Congratulations to our MMS Choir for earning a division 1 superior in performance and sight reading and last week’s CPA assessment. Great job! From Mrs. Breedlove: There has been a change on the location for Cheer tryout clinic. It will no be at MMS today and tomorrow. The 6th grade GT students will be meeting after these announcements. We will reopen the ball box today. It will remain open until the balls are being left outside. Announcements for Friday, February 28th Reminders: 6th grade ETS students will be meeting today in the Conference room right after these announcements. Today is the deadline to order a yearbook and to register for Mena Youth League baseball and softball. Students, several of you are leaving your breakfast and lunch trash on the cafeteria tables. Please throw your trash away once you’ve finished your meal. If you are going on the Washington, DC / NYC trip, please see Mrs. Swall and tell her your t-shirt size. We are seeing an increase in students using their cellphones, earbuds, air pods, etc in the hallways and classrooms. You have been warned enough that if this continues, you stand a good chance of having your device confiscated and not getting it back until a parent picks it up from the office. Lunchtime Weather: We will be outside for both lunches. Lunch Menu: Line 1 – Chicken Spaghetti, MTO Baked Potato Line 2 – Sausage & Jalapeno Pizza, Deli Sandwich, Pizza Salad Concession – Hamburger, Mini Corn Dogs, Chicken Sandwich Club / Group Meetings: At this time, 6th grade ETS students need to go to the Conference Room, located next to Mrs. Rose’s office. Announcements for Wednesday, February 26th From Coach Bentley: Any 6th grader that plans to play 7th grade football next year, will meet with him in the gym right after these announcements. From Mrs. Lunsford: EAST Conference Presentation Team will meet with her in the MMS EAST room tomorrow during ACHIEVE. Students, several of you are bringing a Rubik’s Cube to school. Remember to keep it put away during class instruction time. Reminders: Keep your hands washed to help prevent catching all the sickness that is going around. 6th grade ETS students will be meeting on Friday during ACHIEVE. There will be no 7th or 8th grade GT meetings this week. The mandatory parent / cheerleader meeting is tonight, 5:30 pm, in the High School Library. You must attend in order to participate in upcoming try-outs. This Friday is the deadline to order a yearbook. Lunchtime Weather: Due to the temperature and wind, we will remain inside during both lunches. Please remember that the best prevention is to keep your hands washed, especially after using things that others have touched, such as Chromebooks, desktop computers, books, PE & athletic equipment, etc. GT Students: Mrs. Moore will be out for the remainder of the week, so there will be no 7th or 8th grade GT meetings this week. Reminders: After these announcements, all 8th graders will report to the gym for a class photo for the yearbook. 6th grade ETS students will be meeting on Friday during ACHIEVE. Announcements for Monday, February 24th Reminders: Quiz Bowl teams will have group photos taken after today’s announcements. The 8th grade group photo will be taken next tomorrow during ACHIEVE. This Friday is the deadline to order a yearbook and to register for Mena Youth League baseball & Softball. We are starting to have an issue with letter and number keys being removed from the school Chrome Books and other devices. If you remove the keys, you are financially responsible for the repairs. 7th grade ETS students will be meeting today in the Cafeteria, and 6th grade ETS students will be meeting this Friday. All 7th and 8th graders who signed up for next year’s cheer squad and who attended the mandatory meeting in Mrs. Breedlove’s room last week – There is a mandatory parent meeting this Wednesday, 5:30 pm, in the Mena High School Library. If you and at least one parent or legal guardian do not attend, you will not be allowed to try out for the cheer squad. FBLA, FCCLA, Leadership students who are interested in going on the Magic Springs trip will meet in Mrs. Smith’s room right after these announcements. Quiz Bowl teams will have group photos taken on Monday. Bring your trophies and certificates The 8th grade group photo will be taken next Tuesday. One week from today is the deadline to order a yearbook and to register for Mena Youth League baseball & Softball. Students, if you have a class in the gym, you need to stay in the gym until the bell rings and do not roam around in the Cafeteria or halls. Once again, there were several footballs, basketballs, etc left outside yesterday after both lunches. The ball box will be locked during both lunches for a few days. Announcements for Thursday, February 20th Students, this year we began allowing you to use your phones / devices outside during lunch. This came with some conditions. This is just a reminder that one of those conditions is that you are not allowed to use your device to take pictures or videos.
