Mena Football will play DeQueen in their season opener on Friday, August 27th at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. We thought now would be an appropriate time for a little history lesson.
The first football game played by Mena High School was in 1912. In the game the Bearcats played DeQueen. The Leopards won by a score of 20-6. There were only thirteen boys on the Mena squad. Additionally, only two boys had ever even seen a game. One eyewitness said, “The small squad made up for lack of knowledge by rough play.”
GO BEARCATS!!!!
