Kindness is a gift we can all afford to give, and kindness begins with an understanding that we all struggle and we all have needs. Mena High School is recognizing Kindness Week from January 25-29, and encouraging everyone to find as many ways to be kind to others throughout the week. Wherever there is another person, there is an opportunity for kindness and to make a difference.
Mrs. Torix needs to see: Caroline Cannon, Mallory Farringer, Jocelyn Hernandez, Kiylee Hughes, Alex Rocha, and Riylee Wiles at the beginning of Enrichment for just a few minutes.
The HUB is now taking applications for the 21-22 school year. If you are an upcoming senior graduating in 2022 and would like to apply for the HUB program, please fill out an application and return them to Mrs. Threlkeld in the HUB, Room 111. If you plan to work your senior year and would like to attend The HUB, please also fill out the AE JAG application form. Applications and HUB expectations were emailed to the Class of 2022 students on Tuesday. Please email Mrs. Threlkeld or stop by Room 111 with any other questions.
Be sure to order your copy of the 2021 Mena High School Yearbook for the current price and final price of $60 by this Friday, January 29. You may order online at www.jostensyearbooks.com with credit or debit card, or order through Mr. Philpot’s room 205 with cash or check. January is the final chance to order your personalized copy of the 2021 MHS Yearbook.
Any FFA member interested in ordering an FFA jacket needs to talk to Mr. Maye or Mr. Goodnight ASAP.
The FBLA District Spring Leadership Conference will be held Wednesday, February 10th on the Mena High School campus. Please see Mrs. Torix to pick up a permission slip. They need to be returned by Wednesday, February 3rd.
Signups for the 2021-2022 Cheerleading programs have started. If you wish to try out for the sideline team, competition team, or Beary the mascot, please see Coach Hughes in room 315. If you have already signed up, make sure you have joined the Google Classroom for more information.
Applications are available to be considered for the 2021-22 MHS Yearbook Staff. If you would like to apply for the yearbook staff for the coming school year, please pick up an application in Mr. Philpot’s room 205 as soon as possible.
JAG Applications are now available for the 2021-22 school year for next year’s seniors and juniors. Online applications are at karenpurvis.wixsite.com/mhsjag. You can pick up a printed application from Karen Purvis (room 403), your enrichment teacher, junior meeting on January 28, and sophomore JAG meeting on January 29 during enrichment. Completed applications are due back by the end of the day on Monday, February 8. Any questions, please contact Mrs. Purvis in room 403 or email her - karen.purvis@menaschools.org.
There will be a meeting for any FFA member interested in the Arkansas Youth Shooting Sports Program today during Enrichment in the Ag Building. Students will be given an application that must be taken home, filled out, and returned by Wednesday February 27th to be eligible to participate for the upcoming season. If you absolutely cannot attend the meeting and are interested, see Mr Maye,Goodnight or McCormick for an application.
Seniors: It’s time to vote for the 2021 Who’s Who. The Google Form ballot is available in the Class of 2021 Enrichment Google Classroom. Voting will remain open through tomorrow, so please take time to vote for the eleven categories in this year’s Who’s Who. Results and photos will be part of the 2021 MHS Yearbook.
A survey has been sent to all Enrichment teachers to discuss what they would like for their Enrichment team name to be for the upcoming cornhole tournament. Now is the time for Enrichment classes to be discussing their preferred team names, and once submitted, the Journalism 2 class will create a team name banner to hang above the classroom doorway.

Today and tomorrow is your last chance to claim items out of the Lost & Found box.
Charge your Chromebooks at home every evening.
II. Some of you that are fairly new to our school received a packet of forms when you first
enrolled. Several of you received a new packet yesterday. Please return those signed
forms to the office as soon as possible. These forms are required as a part of your
registration.
III. From Mrs. Lunsford: Teacher Aides and Library Aides please go to Mrs. Lunsford's room
tomorrow (Friday) right after the announcements, for your Yearbook Photo.
IV. If you are not sure whether or not you ordered a Yearbook, there is a list posted on the
bulletin board in the hall near the Cafeteria.

II. From Mrs. Rose: This week we celebrate the Great Kindness Challenge. Challenge sheets
will be handed out today. Look for updates on the Challenge on Mrs. Rose's Google
