Mena Bearcat Coaches have selected #4, Jair Hernandez, as the Farm Bureau Insurance Player of the Game for week 2 vs. the Center Point Knights.
Jair is a Junior, Free Safety/ Wide Receiver for the Bearcats and is also their Kicker. He is the son of Ashley Lowery and Eric Hernandez.
Last Friday night, Jair had 9 tackles and 2 pass deflections on the defensive side of the ball. Then, late in the fourth quarter, Jair kicked
the game winning 44 yard field goal, as Mena came out on top over the Knights by a final score of 17-16. Mena is now 2-0 for the year.
Jair also plays Mid-Fielder for the Mena Soccer team in the Spring. He hopes to go to college after graduation in 2025, but is undecided
as to a field of study at this time.
This week, Mena makes a long road trip to Northwest AR to take on the Lincoln Wolves, who are coached by former Bearcat QB, Reed Mendoza.
Lincoln is also 2-0 on the young season and have scored a total of 95 points in their first two games. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m.

Louise Durham Grandparent's Day is coming up!!!

Louise Durham Elementary held their first Rise and Shine Assembly of the school year on Friday. The attendance award was given and a dance off was held. Mena High School theatre students presented a short play, students and staff who had August birthdays were recognized and Coach Rose lead everyone in the LD Chant.

Mena Middle School students in Mrs. Billings’ yearbook class attended the annual Josten’s Yearbook Workshop at Greenwood High School on Wednesday. They learned creative ways to design and plan a yearbook.

The Mena Bearcats picked up a big win at the Little Creek Country Club on Tuesday. Marcus Graves was the medalist.
