Mena students participated in the Science Fair at UA Rich Mountain on Friday.

Mena High School students Jocelyn Hernandez, Psalm Wistrand and Hudson Vacca presented their policy proposals to Senator John Boozman with other district four students. Their original policy was intended to require Arkansas students to perform community service for high school graduation. However, as community service is now a requirement in the LEARNS Act the students choose to provide feedback to the Senator over the challenges the policy provides and solutions to those challenges.

Lauren Frost and Leilani Rose completed the Arkansas Game and Fish Fishing in the Natural State training today. This training is required for schools to participate in the grant funded program and for schools to host fishing derbies. The pair learned the most from the fish dissection portion of the training.

Mena Middle School students attended the 2023 Girls of Promise conference last week. Madison Rowe, Nevaeh Day, Jasmine Parker and Faith Tucker were accepted to attend the STEM event. They were chaperoned by Mrs. Billings.

Mena hosted the Area 14 Special Olympics on Wednesday at Bob Carver Bearcat Stadium. Mena students attended the opening ceremony and volunteered at the event that featured athletes from around the area.

Mena High School Junior Bearcats are attending Junior Day at UA Rich Mountain today. They are learning about the various degrees, certificate programs and courses that are offered at UA Rich Mountain as well as the financial assistance that is available.

A group of Mena High School students took a field trip to the Millwright Training Center in Russellville on Thursday.

MMS teachers entertained students today by getting pied in the face. Thanks to Coach Valencia, Coach Collins and Ms. Martin for being good sports!

Congratulations to the Mena High School Band. The band received straight 1st division Superior ratings at the Region VIII Concert and Sight reading Assessment.

The Mena Middle School Project Prevent Team hosted the annual Easter Egg Relay this week. Each grade competed to see who could learn the most about the dangers of tobacco/nicotine. Each egg was filled with facts: the team with the most facts gathered won a treat and a chance at a Dance Pass.

Congratulations to our March Staff Member of the Month, Mrs. Debbie Hankins. We are so lucky for all the work she does and all of the students she helps on a daily basis!!

Mena High School sophomore Annalise Hughes interviewed Superintendent Dr. Lee Smith on Monday. It was a part of her studies in Ms. Albin's journalism class.
