To promote National Through with Chew week the Mena Middle School Project Prevent Team treated the faculty with popcorn, water and tobacco prevention messages.


Mena High School students recently attended the "Be the Model, Break the Mold" nontraditional career exploration event at UA Rich Mountain. They experienced hands-on sessions in the areas of Truck Driving & Diesel Mechanics, Machine Tool and Welding.

Bearcat wrestling competed at the 4A South Tournament in Lonoke on Saturday. Six Bearcats qualified for the State Tournament and were lead by Brody Peters who won the 175lb. weight class. Others who qualified include Trip Hensley, Cody Short, Guice Anderson, Carter Cossey & Nate Needam.

Mena School resource officers and school personnel attended a workshop entitled "Strategic Communication for Interacting with Juveniles" at the DeQueen Mena Education Service Cooperative on Friday. These employees spend much of their daily activities in communication with students. This course provided participants with a foundation in strategically communicating with juveniles. Topics covered include using active listening skills, rapport building, verbal judo, teen brain development and de-escalation tactics for use in dealing with conflict.


Congratulations to Carmen Puckett for being selected the DAR Good Citizen. The award is given annually by the James K. Polk Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.


At Thursday's meeting of the Rotary Club, Dr Lee Smith and Bridgett Buckley of Mena Schools told us about a new disciplinary program implemented by the school system. They work with prosecuting attorney Debra Buschman's office to help the students achieve a positive outcome and a new direction for their lives. Mena Public Schools


Mena High School student Jayden Cox, and Ms. Aarika Cox recently represented Arkansas Special Olympics in Washington D.C.! They met with representatives from Arkansas to advocate for support of the important, life-changing work Special Olympics does in our state for health, education, and sports!

Students in Aaron Obrien's class we're engaged in career exploration using virtual reality on Monday. VR allows students walk through a variety of different vocations to see if it is the fit for them.


The 7th and 8th grade team dominated todays dodgeball tournament at Mena Middle School. They won all three games against the 6th grade team.


Mena High School FBLA attended the District 1 Spring Leadership Conference yesterday in Fort Smith. 39 members qualified to compete at State Conference by taking an objective test and/or participating in a performance event and 9 members are competing at state in state only events. The King of Hearts Pep Rally was held on Tuesday in the Union Bank Center. The 2023 Mena High School King of Hearts is Taeyon Anderton and the Jester is Gabe Corcoran. They will be recognized during halftime of the senior girls game this evening.
