I. Tomorrow’s dress-up theme for Spirit Week is “Mathalete vs Athlete: You can dress up like
a nerd or your favorite athlete. The dress-up themes for the remainder of the week are
posted on the Library windows.
II. Flu shot forms are due this Friday. .
III. Reminder: 6 th grade Quiz Bowl students will meet in the Conference Room right after these
announcements. 7 th / 8 th grade Quiz Bowl will meet tomorrow in the Cafeteria
IV. Remember to throw you breakfast and lunch trash away. Don’t be the person who causes
everyone to lose the privilege of being able to eat outside.
V. There are starting to be a few Covid cases in the area, along with the flu, though no major
impact at MMS as of now. Continue to wear your masks and use social distancing. This
will continue to be strictly enforced.

A big game tonight at the UBC when the Ladycats play Fountain Lake. Games begin at 5:00pm.
The Jr, Bearcats will begin at 5:30pm at Bearcat Stadium when they play DeQueen. These are game that were postponed from earlier in the season... GO BEARCATS!


The Mena Bearcats Defeated Pottsville 34-13 Friday night. Mena will host Dover on Friday 10/9 at Bearcat Stadium. Homecoming activities will begin at 6:30pm with Kickoff at 7:00pm. GO BEARCATS!

FARM BUREAU PLAYER OF THE GAME Week #5
Caleb had 4 receptions for 111 yards, 1 touchdown, 9 tackles, and an interception against the Waldron Bulldogs last week. He is the son of Brandon and Mary Peters. Caleb is a Junior for the Bearcats and also plays basketball and baseball. He plans to pursue a degree in Coaching or Business upon graduation. Way to go Caleb! #GoBearcats beat Pottsville!


Announcements for Friday, October 2 nd
I. From our Tech Department to All Students: It is important that you place your
chromebooks in the covers that have been provided. An ID will be provided to place in the
clear pouch on the front of the cover. Do not to remove the ID card. Do not alter the cases
in any way, such as writing on them, stickers, etc. Use the pocket on the front of the cover
to store the charging adapters. It is not necessary to remove the chromebook from the
covers.
II. Update: The deadline for the flu shot forms has been extended to next Friday, October 9 th .
III. From Mrs. Sikes: Today is the deadline for 7 th & 8 th grade students to join FBLA.
IV. From Mrs. Rose: If you signed up for the Bearcats Against Destructive Decisions (BADD)
club, will have your first meeting right after these announcements.
V. The 6 th grade Quiz Bowl team will meet on Monday during ACHIEVE. Due to other
meetings in the Conference Room, the meeting will take place in the Cafeteria. 7 th & 8 th
grade Quiz Bowl team will meet on Tuesday.
VI. Yesterday a few of you wanted to hang around the school waiting for the 7:00 pm football
game. For liability and safety reasons, you are not allowed to hang around any campus.
You must either go home or make arrangements with a parent for you to go somewhere
else until it is time for the game.
VII. Keep your trash picked up outside.
VIII. Monday’s Homecoming Spirit Week theme is “Disney.” You may dress as your favorite
Disney character. See the fliers on the Library windows to find out what the themes are for
the remainder of Spirit Week.

StuCrew and BFI are sponsoring a Spirit Door Competition! Each Enrichment class will decorate their door for Homecoming Week. Surprise judges will be brought in to judge them and the winner will be announced next Friday!
There is an FBLA meeting in Rm 202 beginning right now during Enrichment. They will be discussing the Rada Cutlery fundraiser, fall conference and upcoming competitive events. If you are part of FBLA, you won’t want to miss it!
The deadline to register for the FBLA Fall Conference is today, Oct 2nd. Cost is $15 to attend and receive an FBLA t-shirt
FCCLA dues are $15 and need to be paid by next Thursday, October 8. Bring your dues to Mrs. Hobson or Mrs. Wilson.
Be sure to order your Mena High School yearbook by the end of the day today to take advantage of the lowest price of $50. Anyone interested in joining Sci-Fi Club this school year, there will be no dues this year, just sign up with Ms. Hooker to join! Even Blended students will have access to the Google Classroom.

The free Flu Shot Clinic will be on Thursday, October 15, here at Mena High School. Forms have been distributed, and they are due back by today, October 2, for those who would like to receive a flu shot. If you still need a form, see Nurse Bobbi.
Seniors, today is the deadline to take advantage of the Early Bird Special on full page senior ads in the 2021 yearbook. As long as you or your parents purchase the ad by tomorrow, it will lock in the lowest price before it increases on Saturday. The Mena Jr. High Bearcats lost to Pottsville 12-38 on Thursday at Bearcat Stadium. The team will host DeQueen on Monday.

3. Question: What’s your favorite part about school so far this year? Answer: “Just being able to see my friends and having everyone in one place again.”

V. The outside trash is piling up. Styrofoam cartons, chip bags, etc, are littering the outside
area. Every person that leaves trash laying around is a vote to prohibit food and drink from
being allowed outside.
VI. Next week is Homecoming week at Mena High School. Since there will not be a
Homecoming Pep Rally this year, MMS will be participating in the dress up days that will be
a part of next week’s Homecoming Spirit Week. You will see fliers on the Library windows
describing what the dress up theme will be for each day.
