As part of National FFA Week the Mena FFA participated in a community service activity involving the assembly and distribution of 48 care packages to the residents of Peachtree Assisted Living. Numerous students were involved in assembling and packaging the baskets and the Ag. Leadership class delivered them to Peechtree. What a great experience for our students and it was a joy to see the smiles and excitement on the men and women's faces!

Read Across America Kickoff 2024 We kicked off Read Across America 2024 with Lots of reading excitement! “Hog Wild For Reading” lead our day as we teamed up with The University of Arkansas to push the importance of reading! Arkansas Razorback football players and Lady Razorback basketball players read aloud to our students and talked about their favorite books! Lots of read alouds , lots of books checked out in the library, free book giveaways to our little readers and mostly importantly we read lots of good books!

Mrs. Billings’ Middle School Project Lead the Way Classes have been doing projects in the fields of Aeronautics. They welcomed Hannah McDonald as a guest speaker to talk to them about this area of STEM. Hannah is a 2019 graduate of Mena High School and a graduate of the Aviation program at Henderson State University and is a certified pilot. She discussed the importance of math and science in aviation, shared her background in aviation training, and answered students’ questions. Hannah is currently employed by Envoy / American Eagle Airlines and is beginning her training as a passenger jet pilot. Hannah is the daughter of Todd & Lana Coogan and Gordon & Natalie McDonald.

Recently three students from Mena High School got an exclusive chance to step into the shoes of dental hygiene professionals at Dr. Borengasser Family Dental in Fort Smith Arkansas! From learning the ropes of oral care to witnessing firsthand the magic of dental cleaning procedures, these students dove deep into the world of dental hygiene! But the adventure didn't end there! After their enriching experience, they embarked on a tour of the University of Arkansas Fort Smith's campus, paving the way for future possibilities! A special thanks goes out to Dr. Borengasser and his team at Borengasser Family Dental and the University of Arkansas Fort Smith for making this possible.
